Currently it looks like OL coach is the only coaching staff position truly open. They hired DJ Williams to replace Blough (kindof) as QB coach.

Let's use this thread for OL coach discussion.

A few posts were made in the Blough thread recently by RWJ and Dah-Dee I've put the tweets here so they can be the basis of discussion...

I think the OL coach is going to be a more critical choice than most would believe. First of all, Blough has experience as a QB, but no specific credentials when it comes to OL play. And of course that's true for a lot of OCs. Secondly - I think we are overrating the play of our OL. I hear over and over that the OL is the strength of this team. That may be true, but let's be honest, that's not really saying a whole lot, is it? Our OL played better than the other Washington 'units', I think that's an easy argument to make. But for large stretches of the 2025 season, we could not open holes to establish an effective running game. Many will blame Kingsbury for lack of creative rushing schemes. Some will point to a lack of WR threat which allowed defenses to 'stack the box'. There is probably some truth in those arguments. But I still have concerns we are still not there on the OL (and face a potential setback if we can't get Tunsil signed to a new contract). Another issue I chalk up to coaching is that our OL made frequent mental and technique mistakes in 2025 that killed drives and scoring opportunities. A really dynamic capable OL coach would be a major get for us. I don't know if Ledford is that guy. I just hope we find a difference-making coach for that unit.

I agree. OL coach is test 1 for Blough.

But don't discount the fact that I think our backs were a part of the issue as well. And that is where our most tenured coach resides, so I don't believe it to be a coaching issue. And they had a decent ypc rate, so I don't think it's even necessarily the OL (though they share some of the issue). We need a good OL coach to close those gaps and a high end back to make sure that we hit the open lanes.

We really need all the staff to be excellent selections. When DQ was hired he emphasized the importance of cultivating all of the players whether vets or rookies. It seems to me there have been a number of younger players that have taken an extraordinarily long time to get up to speed. Bringing in vets to help the nurturing process is good but you need to let the young players get in the games.
