The 2026 Free Agency Thread

The All Pro teams are depressing for the “what could have beens.”

A lesson learned here is FA is definitely a key element to build your roster. Denver, for example, signed one first team All Pro in Zach Allen and a second team All Pro in Hufanga
For sure. I thought Hufanga alone was one of the perfect fits in Washington last year. I recall no rumors of even looking at him.

Never mind the All Pro Team, how about the make up of all the playoff teams. They are loaded with draft pick hits combined with FA success stories.

So depressing as our roster has like a couple of each and a bunch of fillers. Our talent level is low. We really need a huge FA year along with a draft with big hits. Sadly we are going into the draft down 2 of our first for picks and we are starting over with staff not making this place the most interesting for FAs

The biggest downside of getting two new coordinators is that it muddies the map. Peters probably has a very good idea of the kind of players that Kingsbury and Whitt like/need. Maybe Blough's schemes are compatible and so the needs don't change much, but will the new DC prefer speed over size, savvy vs. instinctual, etc.

Part of the trick of successful of managing successful free agency is knowing what your coaches require and like. It's not plug and play. The right attributes don't always correspond to the correct fit. So, while we all think we need a te, a wr, edge, s, and more which player is a little more complex. It's even more complex than who is the best athlete guy available or how do these players fit under the cap.

I'm sure that Peters has a plan and is constantly working on a plan, but I do wonder to what degree that plan will have to be scrapped based on who the DC winds up being? How much of that plan needs alteration because Blough imagines a different blocking scheme or wants to use his receivers differently?

Watching last nights GB game had me thinking Romeo Doubs would be a decent fit. I know, he doesn't have great speed but he seems to get open often and the QBs seem to rely on him.

I like him a lot. He just makes plays.

Exactly, and it doesn't seem to matter which QB is in the game. Not only does he seem to open often, he is a decent YAC guy. He makes plays in the middle of the field and the outside.

I like Doubs. I'll get used to the guardian cap.

I'm not sure Green Bay lets him walk. But yes, he should be a target. Agreed.

Doubs is injury prone so not so much for me. If we sign him fine, but I’ll be bummed we didn’t get Alec Pierce

He's missed 5 games over the last 3 seasons. Not sure that equates to 'injury prone' but something to consider. By that definition, just based on this season Terry is as well.

Nah. Terry hasn’t missed a game since they called us the Redskins, until this year. So basically one injury in his career. Dobbs has missed time three of four years. And I’m not so sure that weird helmet is gonna save him from another concussion. Doubs also was suspended once for “conduct detrimental to the team”.

Does it matter whether player unavailability is over several seasons or for a long stretch of a single season? Seems to me it's about how many games the guy plays in over a given period.

I'm just saying, 5 games missed out of 57 is 91% availability. McLaurin's availability was 88% over the same period.

Just sayin...

Well, you’re cherry picking your data going back to the one year Doubs played 17 and no further. I’m just saying hard to call a guy ‘injury prone’ when he’s only had one injury ever. But sure, if Terry were a free agent, I’d be a little worried about injury after what happened this year.

I only left out his rookie season, lol. He did miss 4 games that season. That still gives him 9 games missed over his whole career while Terry missed 7 over that 4 year period. Why are games missed less impactful when they occur in 1 season vs. spread out over several?

'Injury prone' is just a label. Availability is a number.

and not to go on and on about it, but a team that carries 'injury prone' WRs who SUCK really shouldn't be hyperfocused on a few missed games by a player who is super talented.

Well, you should factor in Terry’s entire career as well, but point taken Doubs is available more than I’m giving credit. I guess what scares me moreso is the concussions. Seems like if he gets one more it could be the end.

And here I believe we’ve reached common ground ;)

It was kind of interesting seeing AP pound his chest regarding the Tunsil trade. Although he is our best player, I’m not completely sure it is so definitive as we gave up 4 picks + now have to give him close to $30M a year.

Coleman showed he is a starting LT this year and showed it last year too. His rookie year was arguably better than Conerly’s.

Coleman's PFF ranking didn't put him in the range of production you have him in. The eye test from what I saw showed a younger player that had trouble with stunts and shifts/overloads as well as maintaining his balance at times.

In regards to Conerly Jr, I would say I think HE could be moved back to left tackle if Tunsil is traded.

His physique, athleticism all point to a guy who has that quick first step and ability to get wide on rushers. What he doesn't have is the prototypical Right Tackle size and pure strength to bulldoze guys.

I could see Conerly Jr. on the left and Coleman on the right side.

But trading Tunsil is something that would reflect poorly on Peters UNLESS somehow he is able to obtain a #1 draft pick during the draft in April and we are able to select a pass rusher or other dominant defensive player that really upgrades our team.

You will not find me argue with this. I have posted similar feelings. I love Tunsil and think it is amazing AP pulled off getting a player of his caliber away from a team. It's too bad I wasn't a Maxx Crosby or Hendrickson, a position we desperately needed. Even a Tee Higgins or other similar caliber WR for that matter

I still think it is interesting that Conerly Jr. as a draft prospect projected to left tackle.

He may very well be an insurance policy in case we can't resign Tunsil and he is traded.

Again if Peters is able to flip Tunsil for a impact player on the DL that raises the play of the team I wouldn't necessarily have an issue with that, but it's a risky stance to take for a GM that just saw the player he traded for have a pro bowl caliber season.

If that's the case it is really a shame because instead of drafting an insurance policy for 26 that could have gotten a productive need positions like WR, RB, LB DE or name a DB position
