As I said yesterday, all signs point to Blough. It’s pretty clear that the Lions have an offer out for Blough and we are going to match it because we are worried about losing him.

Just noting Wells and Terrell now check the box as your two minority interviews so that checks the box for these guys to hire Blough

I’d be pretty surprised if the Lions have an actual offer out to Blough, they also want to interview McDaniel.

Let’s remember that Kingsbury was going to the Raiders before he signed with Washington.

He wasn’t headed to a top destination where he had high skill players and gave it all up to come here.

Before that he was HC in AZ, another NFL backwater.

Yeah, he chose us because we were willing to give him a regular 3-year contract and the Raiders were only offering a 2-year contract. Magic connected some people and we swept in to beat them out.

My guess is the Lions have an offer out to Blough but are also interviewing other candidates in case he doesn't move forward with them.

More on Blough from Keim in an exchange with the legendary Bang:

I’m extremely skeptical that Blough is their runaway #1 candidate given the other people they have requests out for. That’s what an offer at this early stage would imply. Offer goes out when you’re sure and you’re fine missing out on every other candidate. Highly doubt that’s where they are at this point with Blough.

The smoke signals seem to say McDaniel, if not, then Blough.

It's important to remember a lot of these interviews, there's some brain picking going on too

I've been sitting here listening to these knuckle heads :ROFLMAO: (Grant & Danny) and Grant does bring up some good points. McDaniel is a 1-year rental. McDaniel could take weeks to make a decision and Blough would probably be gone. Blough is 2-3 year rental if he succeeds. Blough would be able to adopt a playbook from 3 different offenses and make it hard on defenses initially. He's also already familiar with JD, his work habits, etc. they have a really good relationship.

Blough getting interviewed by Detroit gets attention.

Washington doesn’t need to publicly announce an interview or formerly schedule an interview with him. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Agreed, Higskin. Both G&D to me are like listening to the teacher on Charlie Brown. Wah wa wah wha wha.

We've already had interviews that are "has beens", after the fact that have been reported by Keim, Schefter etc. :)

I feel the same. I do think it’s a slightly unique situation though w/ Campbell having worked with him before and having taken over playcalling duties this year. And unlike us, it alleviates the pressure on Blough to succeed (right out of the gate or even long term).

More and more, I feel McDaniel gets a HC job. Just not the Giants please. If I had to guess/hope:

Ravens - Stefanski
Dolphins - Harbaugh
Falcons - McDaniel
Browns - Who cares?
Raiders - Fired in 2 years anyway
Giants - Someone who sucks

And depending on Bloughs level of confidence, that could be a difference maker. Perhaps he would like having the training wheels of not having to call plays, or perhaps he envisions he and JD scheming up stuff and putting it into action. We shall see

I can see Mara taking a swing at a coordinator who's gotten his team to the Championship Game just a year ago. Besides, think about all that insider knowledge he would bring with him of not one, but two division rivals. Lastly, defensive coordinators making great head coaches seem to be the flavor of the time with three or four finding pretty quick success.
