Official Game Thread - Week 16 - Eagles @ Commanders

He has the strangest pro career of anyone. He has played in the UFL, XFL, with 14 NFL teams including multiple times with 5 of them. He definitely can't keep a job.

He has a reputation of being super smart. A guy coaches love having in the QB room.

He is absolutely a future coach when he decides to retire. With all the offensive systems he has played in, that guy is going to hell of a playbook when he decides to call plays.

I bet he works for a Harbaugh once he retires. For those who don’t know, Jim was his college HC at University of San Diego. That was Jim’s first HC job before he went to Stanford

Josh Johnson is making 1.25m. Jeff Driskel is making 396,000.

Things that make you go hmmm.

Driskell has one foot out of the league already. I’ve heard he is in the micro PE community where he is searching for a small business to buy and run

I didn’t notice Jackson that I can remember, any flashes from him that anyone noted?

The Chiefs just lost to the Titans, badly. It's almost like playing backups puts you at a disadvantage.

Not buying it, your 3rd string QB coming in off the bench with no snaps during the week leading up to the game should be just as good as your 1st string QB. Fact.

Kingsbury is too predictable and Quinn coach scared.

Not that complicated. One is a practice squad salary, the other is a vet minimum for being on a roster. If Driskel was also on a roster he'd be making almost the same amount as Josh Johnson.

4-11 versus 5-10? Who cares?

Really, once we reach the new league year in February 2026 the ONLY thing anyone will be discussing is our draft position and that can be helped or hurt by what happens the last 3 weeks of the season.

I am satisifed the long-term interests of the team, with Daniels off the field, is to lose these 3 games and get as high a pick as we can.

The last thing I want to hear is Adam Peters in April saying 'if we only had the #5 pick instead of #8 we could have gotten the guy we wanted', etc.

It's time to move on from 2025 and embrace the future.

Let Jerry Jones sit there at 6-8-1 and pretend he has something to play for these last few weeks.

Congratulations to him on finishing out of the playoffs and securing second place in the division. A pyrrhic victory if we ever saw one.

Ben Sinnott had 37 offensive snaps yesterday (69%). John Bates had 27 (50%).

Jordan Magee had 30 defensive snaps (43%) + 22 on ST. Drake Jackson had 22 (31%).
This is a great post/report . Thanks for this and it is a good sign they all got in there a decent amount

Less good sign that Sinnott can play that many snaps and not earn targets. Not sure how many routes he ran vs how many of those were blocking reps, but they aren’t game planning him touches like they did with Ertz, or he’s being passed up in the progression by Mariota

I am guessing it is both. He has definitely been more involved in the move blocks and lead blocks and down so very well. I have noticed that there are times when he does not desperate from the LB or whoever is in coverage. There are other times where he has steps on the defender but does not get a look from Jayden or Mariota. It doesn't feel he has earned the QB's respect enough for them to give him looks.

I remember when McCaffrey went through this last year. Charting sites were saying he was getting open but not getting targeted, but it was impossible for us to know if he was running the right routes or breaking off his stem at the right depth, etc. He even lost snaps late in the season as we made our playoff run, which seemed to back up the idea that the charting sites were giving him credit that Kliff wasn’t, probably bc they didn’t know his assignment. And then this year before getting hurt it became clear that he was slowly gaining trust and targets from Daniels.

So maybe it’s the same thing. Sinnott is open but not trusted enough to be a primary read, or he’s not doing exactly what he’s supposed to be doing exactly when he’s supposed to be doing it so unless it’s a scramble drill, he’s not getting the targets. Who knows.

It’s worth noting that last season LSU homers were posting to be patient with Daniels’ chemistry with his wideouts because he didn’t trust LSU’s incredible WR’s his first year starting there either, and then when he did the offense exploded.

It' a great point about the trust thing. The counter to that is he went right away to Deebo and he and Mariota seemed to go to Robbie Chosen more frequently then looking at Sinnott even when he was open. It was like they were trusted right away.

I do recall Logan P talking last year of Sinnott not that good with crisp route running of ability to quickly separate right off the line. It seems like he has improved but who knows

One thing over the past 2 weeks has been the lack to passing in general which is visible in Chris post above. No one has had a lot of opportunities.

Well, the one benefit to a tenured, journeyman scrub veteran like Chris Moore (and why he stays in the league) is that he probably knows what the hell he’s doing. Easier to trust a vet who is consistently where he’s supposed to be when he’s supposed to be there (and that’s probably why he was getting so many snaps and targets earlier in the season while people wished the young guys were playing more).

Same goes for Deebo, of course. He’s a professional and had all spring and summer with Daniels.

The early Burks trust in high leverage situations was actually the most interesting. He must have been flashing some skills in practice that made him seem worth throwing the ball up to because since he started getting on the field for us he’s been trusted with high difficulty passes in important situations. And mostly come through. But, again, for whatever his issues were on the Titans, getting injured, and not being able to live up to the “AJB replacement” billing…he’s still been in the league a few years. He was a reclamation project but he’s still a vet who’s been in NFL WR meeting rooms for years and learned multiple offenses.

So it may just be a function of vets having that hard-earned experience that makes a coach more likely to give them snaps and a QB more likely to actually target them in games. Reliability > talent in some cases.

Guys - maybe Sinnott just isn't all that good. I think we over-think these things. He was overdrafted and that's what we are seeing.

Bet Cardinals fans thought Trey McBride was a bust while Kliff was there......

That’s clearly gotta be the default position on the issue, but there’s nothing to discuss there. If it’s the case, it’ll play out and be even more obvious over a larger sample size. So for now the only real thing to speculate about is what could be happening to explain the situation if it turns out he’s *not* a total bust, a year from now. At least there’s some meat there. Totally lost season, no QB play worth dissecting, offseason still a few weeks away…gotta speculate about something

But I think most people know that option A is that he most likely just sucks as a receiver and was a bad draft pick. He’s improved a lot as a blocker, sure, but that’s not at all what we needed from a TE drafted where he was.
