The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Yeah Terry McLaurin is maybe 6'0 205 to 210 pounds and he is an excellent contested catch guy. In terms of catch radius length matters, but in terms of playing through contact weight is probably a better indicator of play strength.

I think Bailey might be my #1 right now, followed by Love and Downs...

Assuming Reese is gone
I have Bailey around 20-25 right now. I might actually like Overton over him right now. My current top 5 are Reese, Faulk, Downs, Tate and Tyson. Depending on Jermod McCoy's knee he might be in my top 5. But knee injuries for corners are a scary thing.

What do you think pushes Bailey down to late first? His size? Certainly not the production.

If they trade down in the first, I'd like. I know some mocks have him top 10 but I doubt a slot CB who isn't a big time athlete goes that high.

I looked more closely at Kiper's most recent big board. Bailey at 6. Faulk at 16. Bain at 19. That makes more sense to me than the earlier mocks. Bain plays with a great motor but his lack of length which is easy to see watching him, scares me.

As for Faulk. To my eyes from what I can find he's so Shemar Stewart. I don't see many pass rushing moves -- chop, bull rush. He looks more disruptive than dangerous. The other pass rusher Auborn flashes at times, Crawford, is feisty, comes at you quick off the snap. But there aren't many games to see, so I'll wait for a verdict but to me he belongs on first glance to be drafted in a similar spot to Stewart -- you are betting on traits, not production. It's pretty rare to see a dude with a 10% pass rush win rate go top 10 at edge.

As for Bailey, I am waiting to see more games, too. But like I've been saying he's the type of pass rusher that I love -- that quick get off that IMO terrorizes O lineman and Qbs. He plays so fast. I want speed on this defense everywhere. It's not just the sacks with Bailey, its pressures, 10 forced fumbles, he wreaks havock.

.

Damon Wilson, the other pass rusher from Missouri, looked good on an initial watch. Sort of a David Bailey light. Quick get off. Big pressure numbers this season.

Hmm. Fusue has Lemon as his WR1 right now. He’s super controversial and kind of a whack job to be honest, definitely goes against the grain, but has many hits over the years that have helped me in my fantasy leagues. Especially devy. This is from a few weeks ago but I saw a couple tweets yesterday where he mentioned he didn’t realize Lemon WR1 was controversial:

Always interesting to note down and follow up on later. I still need to look at Lemon. I was under the impression he was less JSN and more McConkey. Great slot but not necessarily a top-10 guy. Will have to dig in

Maybe a combo stylistically of JSN and McConkey. And Fusue isn't the only one who has him #1. He's typically, 2 or 3 but some have him as #1. He's #2 for me so far.

I've talked about him on this thread on and off. I don't think he has McConkey's speed. I was a big McConkey guy in that draft. But he has that baller side of him that does remind me some of him. JSN comps IMO because of his seperation skills and shiftiness.

I think he'd be a good get. I don't think as I mentioned a slot WR without size and likely without special speed goes top 10. That's why I suspect he ends up somewhere betweenm 10-20 and if so he's my favorite trade down target if they trade out of the top 10.

The reason why I am high on his ability to succeed in the NFL is he's a baller. It's hard to explain what that means but my version of that is you can feel his determination when watching him. He will go after the ball hard at the catch point, with the ball in his hands he's hard to take down. He plays bigger than his size.

To use the analogy to players who played slot here. Crowder was good, shifty and a smart route runner especially against zone and would make clutch plays -- Lemon is similar. But I didn't see Crowder as a baller. Lane and Dotson also IMO are not ballers. Lemon is different.

Similar to what I think about some RBs. Skattebo is a baller. I tallked up Monangai, too. I stopped some after posting about him because I noticed so few draftniks dug him so lol I started thinking maybe I am delusional since he played at Rutgers. But he's playing well for the Bears.

I sometimes get push back about players like that on draft threads because some are fixated on speed and combine measurables. And guys like Skattebo and Monangai are meh at best on that count. But there is something IMO about some players that play with an attitude and ferocity that just looks different when you watch them. And Lemon is that type of player for me.

Listening to Logan's film take and Suter's film take.

Logan stressed that Sinnott was open on several plays but Mariota didn't go to him. Suter is blown away by Sinnott's blocking and thinks he should work to death on route running this off season because he will be a two way threat if he can develop that.

Logan seems to think Conerly is coming on. Suter isn't as impressed. He seems to really dig Coleman though and on several podcasts suggested that Coleman > Conerly at RT and they should give him that chance.

Suter who was a great punt returner in college thinks Lane is a really special punt returner.

Suter doesn't think this current WR crew is good at seperating and the QBs need to buy time moving in the pocket for WRs to get open.

If so, feels like WR is a code red need. i already felt that way but Suter brings it home.

This intrigues me because it reminds me of what I liked about Amon-Ra St Brown and Stefon Diggs in college when I was drafting them young in fantasy devy leagues, despite the fact that they would eventually fall in the NFL draft, I held and they emerged later. Some guys just have it.

Different type of player but I remember guys in my devy league giving me so much shit when I drafted Diggs in the middle of his Maryland career to sit on my Practice Squad for a couple years. I couldn’t explain it to them other than to say “imagine Dez Bryant was small and went to a bad school. That’s Stefon Diggs”. Sometimes you just know.

Totally varying degrees of skill-sets in these players obviously but I just mean the obvious “baller” factor. People use “it factor” with QB’s because it’s hard to define but I agree with your usage of a similar term here for skill players. Some guys are just obviously ballers and size, speed, draft pedigree is not necessarily gonna hold them back. Now sometimes those guys whiff. But these days with NFL offenses more similar to the college game than ever before, it feels like they hit more frequently.

Looking forward to digging in. Over the years you and I have had decently similar taste in skill players often, reading your posts.

It's a shame about Bell's torn ACL. He's definite top 5 for me. Maybe the injury and potential drop could help us draft him later for a bargain. I'd take the chance even with the injury I like him that much personally.

SF while AP was there had years where they were known for doing this in the 3rd-5th round, so I wouldn’t rule it out

He doesn't have Boston in his rankings. Is he going back to school?
I have Tyson in the first group and Boston in the second group. I haven't gone into too many further down than them but like Boston

I double posed for some reason so creating a different post here:

Draft wise, worst case scenario is we could find ourselves selecting like 13 or 14 cough cough. If that occurred and the big WR, Edge and DBs were gone, what's the thoughts if any on Sadiq. He seems to almost be more of a big WR TE combo.

I don't see us picking that late or taking a TE, just asking. I am not big into taking a TE in the first round this year. We do now have 2 good blocking TEs so we could get away with a guy like him.

I don’t think that’s confirmed, not sure why he doesn’t have Boston tbh
