Hopefully, he rethinks his strategy this off-season and completely retools the personnel. We lack explosiveness on offense. We need some playmakers sans Terry. Too easy to play defense against this offense.

If AP had caved they would have been overpaying for an aging WR at a position that does not age well. So the 3D video game of every stadium and situation headsetty thing. Last year we were told that it and JDs fast processing were turning him into a TD droid . However now that we suck I haven't heard shite from shinola about it. I know that the headset thing was supposedly turned up to 2x speeds and (should) be able to see use even if sitting in the training room,. It was how we all saw JD have the ability and mental toughness to carry this team on his back. Now the only thing he's carrying are the voices of his fans telling him he can't play in this league without ideal conditions. Leaders lead, fighters win, but quitters always have the best excuses.

As with most sports stories, the video game stories were puff pieces. "Expert" talking people wearing suits on TV or hoping their article gets them on TV need to show that they know why a player is succeeding or failing. In the absence of any other measurable thing besides "he's just doing good right now", the explanation became the video game.

Yes, I do love seeing more RGIII comparisons! They're so 1:1! Let me know when Daniels holds meetings to tell DQ and KK what plays he will or won't run, as well as do nothing in terms of film study. FFS. These are just more hot takes equivalent to Cleetus from Upper Marlboro calling into Lynell Willingham's crap show.

Daniels came off the injured list to face two of the best defenses in the league--he was not put in a position to succeed against the Vikings, who screamed to run the ball.

This is just not how analogies work. Two distinct things cannot share all the same properties, so no comparison of non-identical things will ever be 1:1. And I do hope you are right that the differences between RG3 and JD5 prove to be relevant to the outcome.

But it is obvious that they are comparable, the similarities are numerous: Both were running quarterbacks, Heisman winners, drafted second overall to be Washington’s franchise savior, and rookie of the year. Both also followed up magical rookie seasons with horrible sophomore campaigns and showed major durability concerns early in their careers.

I am sure we all hope and pray JD5’s story has a happier ending than RG3’s, and you are of course correct that they are not literally one and the same person, so it is possible. I have my doubts, but time will tell.

Good post. Kliff running his offense this year reminds me of when I began teaching my daughter to drive a manual transmission car.

We'd start rough with some coughs and sputters with random ugliest (gear grinding) until we got to 3rd gear. It be smooth for a bit until it came to upshifting to 4th or the need to downshift.

If we down shifted there were bucks and she would sometimes get flustered and not know how to adjust to make it run smooth again.

Kids got it easy these days… I remember learning myself, had a ‘89 firebird with a stick, 350 positrac, FUN TO DRIVE!

But yeah, our offense seems to be stuck in that change from 2nd to 3rd… cant quite get to power gear…

I get it and agreed with the logic. Seriously, I concurred Terry wasn’t worth the 35M price tag. But we boxed ourselves in a corner with a vet coming off a monster year looking for a deal.

The option was deal him away or eat the money because he was too important to Jayden’s development and growth of the team to screw around with a holdout (on $ principle) because Terry had good reason to ask for big money. But, that’s exactly what we did, and here we are. That was always my stance.

And we compounded it by being cheap with OZ and Dyami Brown… i thought we had to keep one of the two. McCaffrey was still an unknown, Noah couldn’t stay healthy and was a castoff from the Texans… but here was a number 2…!?🙄 and Ertz while effective was old last year.

Front office should’ve been aggressive to get younger and more explosive. Instead we traded picks for Lattimore and gambled on Deebo. It hasn’t worked at all…

All of those decisions are on Peters, regardless of whether you like him or not, and I do. But that’s not good roster management. He has to be better. That’s not on Terry…

Kliff can't change gears smoothly, he shifts at the wrong, times grinds gears and like he doesn't understand timing with the clutch. When thee offense gets in a groove, he changes things up and messes up the momentum. Perfect example is CRod starts to look like he could take over the game he gets pulled for a quarter. Makes no sense

At this point, I'm on the verge of being more like who cares. With that being said, no matter what side you are on, I think that the entire fanbase would like to see him here one good and healthy game.

He was still playing well all the way to the Chargers and Bears game. I didn't watch most of the game yesterday but for the most part he looked like he probably struggled throwing the ball and was favoring his arm every other play. Since the Bears game he hasn't looked good or healthy, bad wr play aside.

I would like to see him look good one more time again otherwise we go into the offseason with a complete question mark. It's like we will be hoping that he looks like last season or early this season while not being able to get past the fact he looks non elite anymore and an injury waiting to happen. I think that it's even hurting the psyche of the players and staff. No one knows how to judge him right now but with each game, it brings more doubt that did he peak as a rookie.

We got Maye maybe winning the MVP, Shedeur talking his spotlight, and more. I feel like he's even feeling a little unsure of himself right now and there is honestly nothing more annoying than watching someone who looks like they are about to die on every play. I don't want to see that. Just sit him if he can't play without all the theatrics

Durability is a major concern. He has missed over half the season due to injury. Of the six games he has played, he has been injured in four of them. Can we really rely on a guy who is only available half the time and is more likely than not to get hurt whenever he takes the field, or do we think this year’s injuries will not continue to happen in the future?

Also his play is declining. He is down in almost every statistical category compared to last season, and his last two outings were bad: Against Seattle he had 153 passing yards, no touchdowns, an interception, and four sacks. Against Minnesota, he completed less than half his passes for less than 100 yards, threw an interception, lost a fumble that got called back on a penalty, and took a sack. Will he ever return to his Heisman trophy and Rookie of the Year form, or was he a one hit wonder?

RG3 had Kyle Shanahan and a bevy of amazing coaches. That’s who he had coaching him.

My belief is JD would be night and day better with those coaches.

This was going to be my response. Of course RGIII's downfall was in part due to arrogance. Nobody is saying they are the same kind of guy. But the similarities I was referring to are spelled out here. In both cases we thought we had found our guy for the next 14 years and that would mean we would always be pretty good.

I still believe in Jayden Daniels. But his drop off in performance and the injury concerns can't just be ignored and this has forced me to be not too sure about his future.

Not me. I was and always will be a fan of the Shanahans. It's the reason I root for the Niners. I still laugh at the radio callers who claimed Kyle was not qualified and only got the job because his dad was the head coach.

On Extremeskins back in the day you would/could get threatened with temp ban for saying this. Bottom line, Mike Shanahan should have been our next greatest head coach after Gibbs…but Snyder gonna Snyder.

One of the best things Jayden has going for him is Dan Snyder is no longer the owner. I would imagine he has no direct line to ownership and he shouldn’t.

Fair enough about Haslett’s defense, though Raheem Morris has won a couple Super Bowls as an assistant, his head coaching career has not been good.

Arguably one of the biggest problem in 2013 was special teams. Getting rid of Danny Smith in 2012 was a horrible mistake, he is still one of the best special teams coordinators in the business (and yet another coach that was unfairly maligned by ignorant fans).

We in Washington (and I don’t think it’s only true here) fall in love with the individual… often to the detriment of the whole. The Terry situation is a great example.

Sometimes the coaches make mistakes, but it’s also true that sometimes the coaches aren’t allowed to pursue their vision for the team.

Jayden Daniels played 7 games this year and got hurt in 4 of those.

Drake Maye is probably going to win the MVP this year after Stafford’s spectacularly bad performance on MNF.

Maybe we picked the wrong guy.
