Dejean was definitely the higher pedigreed player as to draftnik consensus by a clear peg or two, heck if I recall PFF had him as a top 15 player in that draft.
To your point was it that Peters was good with trading down because he didn't agree with sort of the draftnik consensus? Maybe. But that's to me even more damning. I'd like to think that Peters wasn't thinking yeah Sainristilll is even better than Dejean, let those fools the Eagles take him. I'd like to think he did the more common reason people trade down, I'd rather have two players than one.
My guess is that Dejean had injury red flags coming out for these guys. I think he missed a bunch of games his final year in college. Kinda odd they would then focus in Johnny then
