Official Game Thread - Week 14 - Commanders @ Vikings

Seeing way to many similarities between JD and RG3 at this point. Great rookie season followed up by garbage the next year, and add injuries to the mix. But since I am an old fart and don't embrace change very well, at least this feels normal again.

Those 3 straight passes from the 2 yard line pissed me off.

And who knows how differently the D and Daniels each play in a tie game, or one score game, rather than it quickly becoming two score game. The poor sequencing on offense and poor decision-making in the red zone is setting the whole team up to press

Instead of just playing everyone enters this mode where they try too hard and make mistakes because they’re so in their heads trying not to be THE mistake, because we compete by such thin margins. Feels like things have to go perfectly to even have a chance, and none of these athletes are thriving under these conditions.

It might not be this year (almost zero percent chance it’s this year) but this staff is in trouble.

It's what so many of us were concerned with, still living with an RG3 hangover

If we keep playing Ike we did today he will not be a HC anyplace next year
Next season will tell us a lot about whether that 28-3 debacle in the SB was symptomatic of something more serious. All the Stephen Covey-like psychobabble about "space" aside, I do wonder how patient AP will be with DQ. Pete Carroll is a damn good coach, a complete coach, the type who makes his coordinators look really good. Same with ol' Jimmy Johnson. We might have our own version of Dave Wannstedt, guys. Let's hope not.

It kind of sounds like that's exactly what you are doing, when you say we should get Maye as if that's the magic solution.
My position is what you are kind of saying now: impossible to know - but yes I differ with you when I say certainly unlikely given all of the problems this team has outside of QB.

You are now making really weird claims. "Not much RB help" - OK. You mean the RB who got 147 yards a couple of weeks ago? How many times did Daniels have a RB who ran for that many yards?

When Drake Maye throws a pick - and yes, he does - do you know what happens? A lot of times, the Patriots D makes a stop.

Do you know what happens here when the O doesn't score? The D lets up a score. Like clockwork.

So no, Drake Maye over here doesn't magically make us better with these coaches. Coaching matters. Maye is having a good season though, for sure.
I never said Maye is a magic solution.. in fact i specifically mentioned that this team has many issues, QB being one of them. Maye is playing light out better this season than JD.. thats not even debatable. This D being terrible has little relevance on how this O looks. This O looks anemic and bad all around with far better weapons with JD.. again, pay attention... i am not saying winning... i am talking about effectiveness of this O when on the field... has nothing to do with Pats D being much better.
As far as coaches.. well.. these O coaches were heralded as 'amazing' and 'innovative' just last year... you really think they became terrible overnight? There is a reason this O generally looks better with Mariotta under center. and.. yes Maye under center would make this team better.. would that amount in 2 wins or 4.. no one can say. One thing we can agree on is that this team has a lot of problems that wont be solved overnight.

Maye is elite, no doubt. Was my second favorite qb in the draft but some of yall should go follow the Pats the way you’re giving up on Jayden and pining for Maye. It’s a bad look.

I don’t think you’re interpreting the posts correctly. Every single person here wants Jayden to be elite. Beyond elite. But he’s leaning into all of his own weaknesses and the coaching staff isn’t helping him, that’s not a good feeling for fans when they see a prospect they also liked (yes, many liked Maye more) given a seemingly better chance to reach his ceiling. Brutal

We went from wanting the team to stop talking about Jayden’s VR training last year, because it seemed like a cheat code…to having to deal with the fact that Jayden doesn’t seem to know what the fuck he’s looking at right now.

Many reasons for that, many reasons to be worried about it (and angry about it). The Maye comments are just a byproduct of that. You taking it almost ‘personally’ just really exacerbates it in a bad way because it makes you seem biased. There’s a lot to worry about with Jayden (and this staff, yes) right now.

Only thing left to hope for this year is beating the Cowboys on Christmas.

I don’t have much hope for next season either.

It’s worse because last season gave me false hope.

He's been injured 3 times this season in 7 games? You wouldn't have him play 4 or 5 preseason games in a row right now, this is no different-- they mean nothing.

This reeks a little bit of desperation by DQ. The wheels have fallen off this season, his DC has been neutered, and now he's in panic mode. Just pray he comes out healthy.
Could we please get a HC with an IQ of over 100?

Fire this loser today.

it's context. a blanket statement that a good D will make the offense better is, obviously, incorrect. to say it can't make a difference in terms of field position, momentum, and play calling (assuming good coaching) is incorrect. this can all be dissected in the offseason.
