Sign Jeremy McNichols for several years now

He’s turning 30 in December. He’s underrated and his skill set has developed over the years to a point where he’s a great COP RB in this league, sure. But his career’s almost over, no thanks. We’ll continue to have him as long as we need on 1-year deals, likely. He’s not a hot commodity and RB is a meat grinder position

McNichols has proven to be a pretty good depth player over two years here, especially since he has taken over Ekeler’s third down back role, and he was probably our best offensive weapon last week. That said, Conn is right, there’s really no reason to give him a long contract. I would definitely like to have him back next year though.

McNichols showed how easy it is to get players like Jeremy McNichols. Guys like this are always available.

McNichols is a rich man's McNichols. His "want to" elevates him. He has broken tackles and willed himself to much bigger plays than his speed or attributes would suggest. He's a great hustle guy.

I don't forsee a long term contract either, but I don't think guys like him are always available. He's JAG+ and the plus is worth noting.

2 carries and 2 catches for 45 yards last week In a blowout loss.

Somehow i dont see this happening anytime soon.

He cannot help how many plays he gets, but he has done quite well with his limited opportunities, averaging 9.3 YPC on 15 carries, and recording at least a catch in each of the last four games. He’s done a good job stepping up since Ekeler went down, and I could see giving him more snaps.

That said, yeah, I don’t think it will be hard to sign him if we want to keep him around.

They could put him on the practice squad right now and nobody would touch him.

That is why he won't get paid and that's his entire career.

I like McNichols, and I think there is a place for him on the roster. However, I don't think there is any reason to rush to sign him.

I do think they should draft another guy next year. And keep drafting guys. They currently have 2 RBs they drafted (CRod and Bill), one old injured guy (who I really like) in Ekler who won't be back, and McNichols, a journeyman veteran.

You don't need 4. RBs on the active roster. Assuming Ekler is not back, they could either re-sign McNichols or draft a guy. Or, both.

The one thing McNichols does better than the other RBs apart from Ekler is pass protection and blitz pickup. That's complicated and takes time to learn. But in order to be a veteran who's good at it, that player at some point had to be a younger guy learning it. So I say get a younger guy and develop them as quickly as possible.

Also, Bill should be better at it by next season.

sorry, very little wear and tear, I would sign him for at least 2 years

He’s getting more looks tonight and continuing to play great. Several catches to move the chains and good pass protection on the TD. He has proven to be a good third down back.

I think a good replacement for Eckler- who I like but is always injured- I believe he is good at picking up the blitz too. I think he is a hidden gem, but believe there is going to be competition for him after this season.

I sat behind Jeremy‘s mom at the Chargers game, and it was great to see her cheering on the entire team, especially the running back corps. She is a huge fan of Bill. All that to say he’s probably a good locker room presence, and we all know how important culture is.
