Official Game Thread - Week 8 - MNF - Commanders @ Chiefs

If Terry & Deebo are playing it would definitely be a boost, but it doesn't address the actual issue on the team which is the defense. The offense, for how off it has looked in 2025, is still actually putting up enough points in most games that even a middle of the pack defense should be able to work with.

It sounds like Quinn finally had enough and told Whitt to make some personnel changes, but I am not going to be convinced it will make a big difference until I see it with my own eyes. Yes, some of the younger players are going to get more snaps, but when/how/why will they be used? Will they actually be on the field in pivotal moments, or will they be getting special teams snaps to pad their box scores. Who knows......what an upset it would be Monday Night, eh?

1. No Terry and Deebo don't effect the defense directly, but having them out there makes it much more of a reality that 30 points is possible. Doesn't mean a win, but it means you've got weapons you've missed before.

2. This season has proven to be one that has been as much of a 'toss up' on any given Sunday as any i can remember. There are 'upsets' every week, there are blowouts every week. KC plays Buffalo next week. I'm reducing myself to wondering if they look past us with Jayden out and Mariota starting, but It certainly could open the door to a game we're not exactly expecting.

Also KC is only 4-3 themselves so they haven't been some unstoppable juggernaut.

Wonder if Burks possibly is elevated and dresses in this game. He could prove to be a sneaky get.

I've been blessed, and outright lucky this year betting on and against the Skins.

The defense sucks, and they should have brought in competition for the kicker this week, but 12 points is a lot. Very tempted to hit it.

Edit: Unless Payne can't play. If he's out, they can run all day.

I expect a huge game out of Mariota.

But if Payne is out, I'll.likely turn the game off at halftime.

If thar happens, the second half is likely to look like our playoff game against Philly.

I don't see any way we win this game and I'm more and more convinced it will be another Monday Night embarrassment. We can't stop anyone let alone this offense and the KC secondary is always great and I believe will shut down MM's passing game. MM ain't no Jayden Daniels.

Gay is questionable with a bank injury. I hope we are prepared for this. I don't even trust Gay when he fully healthy

I don't know man, it's probably already too close to game time.

That hot tub isn't going to fit many players in it. We might need to call in the httm repair man because of all the overwork.

Maybe we can get in Darrell Green, Clark, Monk and Sanders + Mann and Marshall in time for the game but then they still have to deal with Whitt. Most of the 91 defense is probably useless now anyway since they aren't allowed to hit anymore. Even little Darrel Green would probably get penalized and fined several times a game.

Sometimes while watching current games it amazes me that we all still watch what is basically flag football with Rbs and WRs eagerly running out of bounds asap with players afraid to hit them. WRs can't get whacked at all.

I'd still probably take the under in this game. The Chiefs are the kings of close games.

(And just in case we get a bit tipsy/drunk, no one has to drive.)

Like someone else mentioned, KC has the Bills next week...and with Mahomes saying he wanted to face JD5 & it not being so, maybe they'll overlook us, we get a turnover or two, eliminate the stupid penalties at the LOS,....

I actually think the team had 2 actual issues:

1. The defense stinks.
2. The offense was helpless to do anything about it because they haven't had even remotely a starting unit on the field for much of the season.

#1 probably won't get fixed until the off-season. I do think there is some chance for incremental improvement, but Richie Petibon, Charles Mann, Dexter Manley and Darrell Green are not walking through the door. Well, at least not to play. Though I'd put money on 66 year old Dexter playing better than some of our current DEs...

I didn't hear in any interview there will be personnel changes. In fact, what I heard was kindof the opposite. Here was his answer to what was changing:

On if there will be changes to the defense:
I think what you'll see is improved play. I think that's obvious in that we want to dig in. So, when wewanted to look and assess to where we needed to make change and make adjustments, sometimes they're not these big overhauls that go, that make the major improvement. It's these small calibrationsand adjustments. And so that is definitely underway as we get out of practice today, I'm looking forward to seeing the speed. We're trying to eliminate the hesitation, and we will do that.

That doesn't sound like drastic changes are coming. Maybe some scheme stuff, but nothing drastic. That said, who knows. Maybe he just isn't saying anything publicly and a change will materialize on Monday night.

However, if we can get the offense back to "good" by the fact teams can't just play man and then stack the line, that would be a HUGE improvement. McCaffery, Lane, Moore and whoever else they put out there couldn't do that. McLaurin and Samuel can. Will they? Dunno. But they both absolutely CAN beat man coverage, so you'd think defenses will have to play us more traditionally. That opens up the run game, and essentially releases a pressure valve. Having Daniels back would be really good, though.

So we'll see. I do think this week will be a closer game than last week when they got their doors blown off in Dallas. The Chiefs don't hit a lot of explosive plays anymore. That might change when they see a receiver matched up against Lattimore, but so far, they haven't been massively explosive. It's death by 1000 paper cuts.
