The Jayden Daniels Tracker

No sense in having him play in a game we're sure to lose by 30+ points. KC will score on every drive against our defense.

Yeah, I’m assuming they won’t think he’s close enough to go anyways out of an abundance of caution, but setting him up to need to play hero ball from behind all game feels dangerous. He’s still fairly reckless, though I believe he’ll grow out of it as he matures as a player and leader

The kid in me says "don't play anyone, concede the game and let everybody rest". But I know that's not how it goes in the big world.

And remembering what it cost us last time, let's rest him (probably against his own wishes) or send him into hell.

His mom is already tweeting to not compare him to Robert.

This is a fans mindset and its reasonable and rationale but the coaches should never make a decision like this based on likelihood of beating a particular opponent.
If they have that mindset the season is already over you might as well put him on season ending ir.
If the doctors say hes healthy and at no risk of further injury then he should play if not then he should sit even if we were playing the titans or dolphins.

I’d definitely sit Terry and Deebo here as well. Just make sure all cylinders are firing after the Chiefs game.

I know…I really wish she would not even respond to those people. Having a public profile is a double-edged sword. When things are going well it’s fine…when it’s not …the critics come out of the woodwork.

This KC team is good but let’s not act like they are invincible - they lost to the Jaguars for Gods sake.

They have the loudest stadium in the league and we have an offense that aren't used to playing together and a defense with communication issues. KC lost @Jax and for some reason the Jaguars routinely start out good then lose out to end the season which is the opposite of the Chiefs.

I'll probably have to take KC in this one.

I dont think any reasonable person wouldn't, in fact most would probably guess we'll get beat by more than two touchdowns especially if we have a few of our key players like deebo, terry and jayden out.
I suspect we'll get steamrolled but that's different than hoping the team will roll over and give it to them so we can get healthier for a late and (probably by then) desperate attempt at a wildcard.

This feels like an social media algorithm problem. Sure we all remember RGIII and the entire surrounding debacle... which makes people concerned about injury.

BUT

I don't feel like the Jayden = RGIII thing is a real conversation... mostly some bombastic internet randos, and probably some bots

Sadly, I had a very loud argument with my dad about this on Sunday. I tried to stop him before he got started by telling him they aren’t even close to the same type of QB. When they lose, he a cut everyone fire everyone type of guy, so him saying this stuff after a loss is not surprising. But it’s frustrating because no one who watched these two play football would say they are similar. There is a distinct difference in their passing abilities, and that’s just the start. But there are people in real life with that opinion and these posts in social media feed into that for sure.

I guess it also requires us to define our terms. 100% agree with the fact that they play very differently, and than Daniels is way more of a traditional pocket passing QB than RGIII ever was. If the issue is.... RGIII got hurt.... I'm worried Daniels might get hurt.... I don't view that as a comparison.

EVERY draftnik commented about Daniels relatively slight frame, and concerns about taking big hits. That had nothing to do with RGIII. If that's what mom is talking about, go back in time to the draft and scold the world for pointing out that Jayden is skinny!

Yeah i guess thats why they call them irrational fears.

Nobody thinking rationally would really see those two as being the same quarterback but irrationally you see mobile quarterback put on a gigantic pedestal as the savior of the perpetually hopeless franchise, now wearing a knee brace and the mind starts to wander.

Even if jayden lost his mobility he has tools and work ethic to be a great pocket passer that rg3 never had.

If he can't play Monday due to injury then fine, but if he is medically cleared I think he should be playing or at least starting the game regardless of who else is or isn't healthy (I say starting, meaning I wouldn't mind him coming out of the game eventually in the event of a blowout). This is still a 2nd Year QB we are talking about and he is likely being thrown things his way he hasn't seen before. Just like I said last season, his development supersedes W/L in the big picture. I think we can't keep using 2024 as a barometer for everything when it comes to JD5 or the team, coaches, front office. It was a fantastic season, will go down as one of the best I have experienced as a fan, but that isn't a substitute for a young QB getting the reps necessary to learn & progress. Young QB's playing on losing teams is a completely normal part of the game.

Seems some folks are writing us off because we will likely face KC without Daniels. Why ? KC hasn't shown much besides getting all the favorable calls. A week ago I watch folks tout how we would run over Dallas... we have a killer run game, and Dallas sucks against the run. That's why they play the game. People seem to expect the same magic from a season ago from Daniels, and unfortunately that's dam near impossible. The league has a seasons worth of film, player changes, and I hate to say it, but an OC that seems to be somewhat predictable at times.... a big killer for us. If Daniels is cleared to play, you play him. Yes, he's the future, and want him to be around for a long time, but you can't wrap him in bubble wrap either. As a second year QB, every live rep is valuable in the learning process. If he can't go, oh friggin well. It's a team sport, and anything is possible. Remember, a team did go to the Super Bowl on the arm of a back up QB some years ago.
