Official Game Thread - Week 7 - Commanders @ Cowboys

Their defense is the worst in the league, and giving up 4.7 yards a carry. Merritt should have a field day. They're givong up 270 yards a game through the air, and 411 yards total.
Certainly doesnt gaurantee a win, but I dont think its all doom and gloom either.

I just dont want us to see us get down early, but it easily could be a shootout.
Sure, they are god awful on defense. But we are awful on defense ourselves.

They are getting pieces back, and it looks like even if we have ours, they’ll be hampered.

I’m not saying they have 0% chance to win. I just don’t see why they would be favored.

Seems like the Bears put the formula down to beat this team. Blitz like heck, play man, and stack the box. Dare Jayden to beat them deep with Chris Moore, and crew.
The problem is, Jayden absolutely could TORCH teams if they had receivers who were capable of allowing him to do it consistently. The problem is, with Deebo limited, McLaurin out, and Brown to IR, Moore, Lane and McCaffery don't scare anybody yet.

We'll see. But man, the WR situation really stinks at the moment.

Because we go win - loss - win - loss - win - loss, so this is a win week?

Agree. Though, the dude who does film study work for Sheehan, the ex-player, said that he thinks even with Terry back, he'd play the team this way. As Sheehan pointed out, Terry isn't the best seperator-man beater. But still, Terry is a legit deep threat. I think we got to hope Lane develops as a deep threat if teams keep playing Washington like this.

And develops quickly.

Teams SHOULD play us that way until we prove we can beat them that way. I am pretty sure Jayden can. I'm not sure the WRs are good enough to allow him to.

The other part about stacking the box is you can generate more pressure. Quick pressure means you have to get rid of the ball faster. However, if you have inexperienced WRs, they often need an extra beat to get open.

Then the whole thing folds like a house of cards.

One game doesn't make a formula. Things always change so much weak to weak. Give Jayden time and he will make plays. It does suck that Terry still seems to be Atleast 2 weeks away and Deebo seems to be getting worse on an injury they said wasn't long term. Get us a new medical staff

Agree it the thought behind it makes no sense. But if feels about as basic as it gets. I don't think it takes much thought.

Look if it was something like this:

A. Washington WRs are great at beating man coverage. If you let Chris Moore or Lane or whomever with one on one coverge they will smoke you. Bears lucked out on that front.

B. Stopping Washington's run game isn't the operative way to stop them. their run game is the gravy for victory at best.

Maybe the Bears formula would come off like a fluke.

Or

A. We got a rookie and jags at WR right now. A decent corner can cover a dude like Chris Moore. So why emphasize stopping them? Use your defenders on stopping Croskey-Merritt and crowding the box to also stop Jayden's runs. And put pressure on Jayden without worrying about their ragtag WR group will burn them.

I have seen Dallas is looking at the trade deadline so i gather they think they can win now

No Deebo, Terry

When practice is over, Chris Moore needs to get back to his shift here....

Injury Report from today:

I'm really worried about Armstrong missing. Terry is not going to play. Deebo I think will probably tough it out again. I hope?

Not true at all. That's like if the Bengals traded Hendrickson and saying that they would be SB contenders with him when they didn't even make the playoffs with him. If you go to the Cowboys board, literally all of their fans say that Parsons isn't saving that defense

So this is a divisional game so of course we must win it... I also said that about the atlanta and chicago games though???

It's Russini's opinion. It can't be that's not true at all simply because some Cowboy fans disagree. Opinons are opinions. They aren't true or false. It could be true. It can be false.

We got a new medical staff last year when AP took over, what do they have to do with anything? Are you forgetting already that we were one of the healthiest teams in the league last year? We’re regressing to the mean, we were bound to suffer injuries and tweaks eventually. It’s bad luck and every team has their share at different times.

Jayden needs to trust Luke and Lane especially more than 10 yards down the field or the Cowboys will all be in the box. I am also hoping Sinnott and perhaps Bates are in the game plan this week

I'm not talking about what Russini said. I'm talking about the guy on first things first saying that they are SB contenders with Parsons. He's been there when they have had way better teams on both sides of the ball and didn't sniff the playoffs. Even with Parsons, their back 7 is bad, especially the secondary.
