Official Game Thread - Week 7 - Commanders @ Cowboys

We will definitely come to play this game, at least offensively. The team will play hard because they know that with the Bears loss, every game counts right now for the playoff race. Greenbay, Falcons, and Bears dominated us in the trenches. The next week we have bounced back. At the very least 8 feel like the O-line will get push this game and after that, they won't be able to stop us through the air or ground.

After that it's up to the defense but I truly feel like worse case scenario, Jayden will win this game on his own. He's finding his groove more and more each week, Terry may be back, and he feels like he gave that game away himself so he will come out super aggressive, ready to dominate

DQ said that when Brown went full go last week, his groin didn't respond. I will say that I don't feel as good about our medical team as I did when we had Dr. Andrews on the payroll

The way the Commanders have reacted to injuries suggests to me that they don't really believe this is a Super Bowl contender yet. When Brown went down in camp, and then again later, they could have brought in Tyler Boyd. When Harris went down they could have brought in Justin Simmons. They've got the salary cap room to pay multiple guys like that, but they didn't do it. And although we're guessing they don't want to further deplete their draft picks cupboard in trades, there are similar guys known to be available, like Jakobi Meyers. Instead they're poking around on the fringes for fill-ins. Definitely does not feel like AP is all in on 2025 - and to be fair, that's reasonable, given the roster. Commanders are much further along in the rebuild than anybody expected, but that's in large part due to JD5, and a lot of the guys starting now won't be here in 1-2 years when the 'real' championship window starts to open.

We do have the oldest roster in the league though.

Ut oh.

Hey VOR, look over there, is that ... something shiny? Yeah, over there!

He’s not wrong.

I think it’s a little overblown. But that comment would not induce a rant. Mention Jay Gruden’s appearance on Sheehan and I won’t be able to contain myself though….

:p

I'm going to put this here just to see how much dislike the fanbase currently has for Terry. I'm not trading him. I think that it's a bargain deal and he will be lethal down the stretch which in turn makes Deebo lethal, right when Jayden is ready to take off.

This probably should go in the Terry thread. Just is it doesn’t derail this thread, can you please move it?

Injury report from yesterday:

This is a first, I had to shrink the screen in order to take a screen shot.

A lot of "Rests" though, which are fine.

Terry practicing is a good sign. Deebo not practicing is not a great sign, but that was what he did last week.

Cosmi as a full participant is good also. This is the last week he can stay on the PUP list before they need to activate him. It will be interesting to see what they do.

CRod's calf injury is sneaky tough to deal with because it means they can't split carries between him and Bill.

Dorance Armstrong's Hammy might also be a problem. Man, if Armstrong can't go and be productive, the DE group will be absolutely decimated. Wise and Jean-Baptiste are already on IR. I don't actually know who Drake Jackson is, but he's a E and also did not practice with a knee injury. Armstrong missing time, you're down to like 4th/5th string at DE. That's never a great thing.

They might need to investigate moving Payne to DE (he's done that before in certain packages) on early downs, and playing him, Kinlaw and Newton at the same time. Also probably means Von Miller is going to have to play more, which is fine, I guess, except he's really not suited to play a whole lot more than he is.

Drake Jackson is the young DE they just signed, he's been out for just about 2 years after reconstructive knee surgery in 2023; SF took him in 2nd round last year AP was there. Little disconcerting to see him immediately appear on the injury report due to the knee, supposedly he is finally healthy.

I think Cosmi, Jones and McLaurin all play this week. I mean, McLaurin has to play, right? It's Dallas Week, so he'll definitely play. Right??

No X and Os predictions from me since I have a bad feeling about this game from a win/loss scenario.

We took the family down for last year's game . My wife and I hadn't planned on going this year for various reasons. However, last night it hit me - there are only a few more Skins-Cowboys games in Dallas before I wake up one day - and my one and only son is off to college. Accordingly, I was compelled to purchase tickets for a father-son ironman, - same day down and back - drive to Arlington TX for the game.

The Skins are 3-0 in Dallas when I am there in-person. Maybe that mojo continues. My son and I will definitely be in the same gear we were last year for extra mojo.

He has to. A bunch of Cowboys including Lamb, Turpin and Booker may be back for this one. I’m particularly scared of Sainristil on Lamb and what Ferguson will do to Wagner

I recognize there are no prizes for “being right” and this is not me in an exercise of lowering expectations so it hurts less.

But I find it incredibly difficult to create scenarios where we win on Sunday. I understand it’s a week to week league, division game and all that.

The Cowboys offense has been a nightmare for opposing defenses without Lamb. Add him back with Pickens and Ferguson, when we’ve shown little ability to stop tight ends in the middle of the field, and all signs point to a grumpy Sunday evening.

Obviously, we will likely need to score, and score some more. Terry and Deebo both not 100%.

I can’t even understand how we are 1.5 point favorites in this.

What am I missing?

Looks like Lamb will play for Dallas this week, and Terry won't.

Keim's podcast today didn't seem that optimistic about Terry's chances to play. But will see.

Seems like the Bears put the formula down to beat this team. Blitz like heck, play man, and stack the box. Dare Jayden to beat them deep with Chris Moore, and crew.

Their defense is the worst in the league, and giving up 4.7 yards a carry. Merritt should have a field day. They're givong up 270 yards a game through the air, and 411 yards total.
Certainly doesnt gaurantee a win, but I dont think its all doom and gloom either.

I just dont want us to see us get down early, but it easily could be a shootout.

Dak might be the hottest QB in the league. With Lamb back and Pickens killing it...versus Chris Moore, McCaffrey, Lane and maybe a banged up Deebo -- doesn't feel like a great matchup.
