Official Game Thread - Week 6 MNF - Bears @ Commanders

Weather continues to favor us and our run game... need to take advantage of it.

That will mean a lot of tackle eligible announcements for Trent Scott.

May also mean less CRod (calf injury) and more McNichols with Bill.

Wonder if we see Sinnott lineup in the backfield with the RB's

I think the key for being good in bad weather is winning the battle at the LOS.

If you can win the LOS battle, you give yourself more time to deal with bad situations.

We SHOULD (not necessarily WILL) win the LOS battle tonight. Chicago's OL isn't playing great, and the DL hasn't stopped the run all season, and they are down one of their starters/better defenders.

If we control the LOS, we should be ok.

One other thing, quietly, the field at Northwest Stadium has been improved. It shouldn't be a complete mud pit if it rains. It will get a little slick, but with the right cleats, it shouldn't be that bad.

What I don't want the Commanders to do is become super conservative. They are having success running the ball not only because they are good at it, but because they mix things up also, and are generally unpredictable. While this group of OL is good, it's not the 1982 hogs where Bostic told the Cowboys the play they were running and they still ran it succesfully. We're not there yet.

We need to have some disguise to help everything. Mix run/pass, be balanced, and control the LOS. Win. It's that simple.

Special teams needs to take care of a slick ball. Turnovers may play a part...got to try to ensure we dont give up short fields with bad ST play.

Deebo Samuel's status in Week 6​

The Commanders have taken things extremely cautiously with Samuel, mainly due to Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown being sidelined. Washington officially listed the South Carolina product as questionable for the clash, with Quinn stating that it would be a genuine game-time decision.

That caused significant panic among the fan base. The Commanders have coped without McLaurin and Brown. But if they are also without Samuel, that might be too much to overcome.

Quinn and his staff will probably put Samuel through a pre-game workout before officially determining his status. But according to Tom Pelissero from the NFL Network, the wideout should suit up as the Commanders look to pick up another notable triumph on primetime.

Obviously, nothing is set in stone. The Commanders won't risk him unless they have 100 percent confidence that he can perform as expected and that there will be no long-term damage. He's a tough player, and if Pelissero's report is accurate, having him in the lineup will be a significant boost at a time when injuries threatened to derail Washington's playoff push.

Samuel is a difference-maker who must be accounted for at all times. He's a matchup nightmare in any pre-snap alignment. He can take the shortest completions for significant gains, and his ruthless approach is something his teammates feed off.


It'll still be an anxious wait until something is confirmed one way or another. But the early signs suggest that Samuel will be able to feature, and the Commanders will be much better off for it.
