Official Game Thread - Week 5 - Commanders @ Chargers

Seems like the team has lost its mojo somewhat since Terry decided to hold out. But a win on the road against a good team like the Chargers could turn the vibes around quickly, and there’s no way I’m picking against us with Jayden on the field.
Skins 34 Bolts 31
I've posted this before, I think the Terry thing had both on the field and locker room implications which are both subtle but obvious. It's clearly been a disastrous start to the season for him as well.

We need some good juju. We don't have good juju.

The chargers CAN be got. Hell, the Giants got them last week, and we are better than the Giants.

The problem is the way the Giants got the Chargers seems to be 3 things:

1. They forced 2 turnovers. We don't really do that on defense at the moment.
2. They ran the ball exceptionally well. We CAN do that.
3. They held the chargers to 4-12 on 3rd down. That's a mystery, we were good on third downs until last week, which was a disaster.

Even in the loss, the Chargers racked up 338 yards on 46 plays, or 6.0 yards per play.

They key is going to be the defense. The defense has to do SOMETHING better than what they did at Atlanta. The offense can hang with the Chargers assuming we aren't down all three WRs, Deebo missed practice yesterday.

But the defense has to be better than it's been, or else there will be a problem.

At least Bates, Cosmi and Daniels appear to be back.
We’ll see if Cosmi actually plays. I don’t be surprised if they want to give him at least 2 weeks of full practice before working him in. More because of building chemistry than anything.

Daniel’s and Bates being back is big

We’re going to have to run the ball. Especially if we don’t have any of the top 3 WRs.

Seeing DNP on the injury report for McLaurin, Brown AND Deebo AND Sainristil is pretty depressing. Seeing "Full" for JD5, Bates and (!) Cosmi is encouraging.

In other news, listening to Bram, he just said Ron Rivera is doing the national radio call for the game.

We’re doomed.

I'll be watching via RedZone, so..........God help me. There may be a few things broken 'round here.

Yeah I dont understand the 21 day window thing

Yeah I dont understand the 21 day window thing

It means he doesn’t take a roster spot on the 53 until they officially activate him, and they have a 21-day runway to get him where they want him during practice. At any time during those 21 days he can be officially activated to the 53 and eligible to play on game day. If they don’t activate him by the end of that 21-day period for any reason then he’s out for the year.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but man, they need to come out with one of these for every game (unless this is just the first one I'm seeing).

Need to attack their weakened offensive line and create hell for Herbert. Giants had success last week. Hopefully our Offense gets hot.

With Del-Rio as color commentator and Eric Bieniemy offering commentary from the sidelines......special alumni guest Vinny Cerato at halftime.
This brings up a question, is EB in football? He failed out of his college OC job I believe, and then what happened to him? Let's check....

He is in football! He is the running backs coach for the Bears, the NFL franchise which plays home games in Chicago! And as I did that research, I learned that Antwaan Randle El is the WR coach for the Bears. How about that? Good for ARE. I always felt a little bad for him in Washington. He was signed to be a WR3 + gadget guy, but WR2 never materialized and he was forced to play out of position and it never really worked. Then he started catching punts, taking a step sideways and falling down. Pity.

Now, let's check on Del Rio....

I have just learned he is the head coach of the (checks again to confirm), the Paris Musketeers of the European Football League. 2 things are true: 1) I didn't know there was still a European Football League, and 2) I certainly didn't know the team from Paris was the musketeers. Though I like the name. It's fitting. Maybe they can only field a team of 3?
