Random Commanders Thoughts

We are now one of the teams that former star veterans will come off the couch to come to. With Preston being the first domino, I wonder who might be next. There are some of these guys out there (and some of these guys may be completely washed). Some to name a few:

Stephon Gilmore
Justin Simmons
Tyler Boyd
Mike Hilton
Marcus Williams
Matthew Judon
DJ Chark

After I heard details of the Harris injury I thought about this as well. The pickings are slim but beggars can't be choosy

It also got me thinking that they could begin scouring practice squads

Daniels may just be young enough that seeing Mariotta out there will benefit him. I think he was trying to be too patient in the first two games. Part of his rookie magic was his decisiveness and ability to process and act faster than the defense could. I'm sure the tape revealed plays missed by getting the ball out that fast (or taking off running,) but he may have tried to overcompensate these first two games.

Also, while the line should be better. Connerly is learning a new position. Cosmi is out. Coleman is a tackle learning a new position. Worse than that, we started out by playing two really tough defenses where decisiveness was probably key. When you have killer pass rushes the best way to beat them is to give them no time to get home.

Called it. Forgot about Savage being a FA. As a former first round pick/All Rookie team safety, I’ll count him ;)

Yes! He at least was a good player and I assume still is and must be better than others available. The backfield is getting thin and definitely needed shoring up.

Regarding SImmons, perhaps he didn't wish to come to Washington. I just saw this but with CIncy listed I am guessing that was pre Burrow injury:

Possible Destinations
  • Contenders:
Simmons has mentioned teams like the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals as potential fits, according to Sports Yahoo.

  • His Past:
While his first option is a contender, Simmons did not rule out a return to the Falcons. He also admitted it would be difficult to turn down the Kansas City Chiefs.

Anyone remember how the Packers drove their fans crazy in 2017 and 2018 by not playing Aaron Jones as the obvious #1 RB?

I know this season is super early, but this season is giving me similar vibes so far with Bill.

Do we have any guys left on the schedule named tucker?

For some reason we can't seem to guard guys named tucker this year.

Hopefully not, maybe we better sign this guy just in case

I just noticed the chargers have a tight end named tucker fisk who hasn't caught a ball since like the third grade.

Im confident though that for some reason he'll be 6 for 85 and 2 against us in a couple weeks.

Unfortunately they’ve got Gadsden at TE who immediately broke out upon getting snaps this week, he probably will do that to us 😂

The history nerd in me: *don't make a Gadsden Purchase joke... don't make a Gadsden Purchase joke...*

Maybe we can "purchase" his rights while John Bates recovers?

I wish we had found a way to sign Calais Campbell. I love the old guys still playing at an elite level. The guy has a 83 PFF grade with 3 sacks at 39
We should have drafted him in 2008. Since then we should have signed him every year he became available in FA. Dude has had an incredible career and yeah, still so productive at 39

If you may recall, he fell to the 2nd from the top 10 due to a terrible pre draft process on his part, something that is typically the mark of an immature prospect. That’s part of the reason it’s crazy it’s him

If he wants to come back for an age 40 season, sign me up. He is making only $5.5M this season and is probably the Cardinals’ best player

I do recall him falling for that and for the idea that he was not fast enough to be an edge and didn't have enough ass to work the middle so he was a tweener for both size and speed. He was a very talented player who was a real value in the middle of round 2. I recall a contingent of us ESers who felt we made a mistake not taking him. I remember Washington having 3 picks in that round, 2 of which were complete misses at the same freaking position, crazy. A horrible draft in general for the Redskins

I don't remember how it started, but this is how it's going. (And my neighbor Redskinskinfan & I got happily accosted by another fan in the parking lot of Petsmart who's going to the game too!)

HAIL, Y'ALL !!!

Ah 2008, the one that got Vinny fired right?
Malcolm Kelly of the knee injury, and Devin Thomas, who… uh… played football. Then of course sleepy Davis who was the best of the lot, but… not saying much.

That was Vinny’s draft that finally seemed to show Dan that VC sucked.

Yes 2008, our new head coach Jim effing Zorn, and what a shit draft it was
