Official Game Thread - Week 3 - Raiders @ Commanders

I think this game inadvertently redirects our season. They’ll run the ball to protect Mariota and the defense in a game where they don’t have their franchise QB available, it’ll work really well and they’ll realize it’s a secret super power this roster has even without Jayden’s legs inflating the numbers, and it’ll rewire their brains a bit to be more balanced and protective when Jayden comes back, imo. And we’ll benefit the rest of the season. We’ll look back and see Jayden’s injury scare as a huge silver lining that saved this offensive staff from themselves.
Wow you were right about the game. Hopefully right about the season prediction too!

I thought the Commanders would win today but 41 points, wow I didn't see that coming!!!
Me either. I was worried about this game. Solid win and we needed that. We're kind of banged up early in the season though

I hope the Bears beat Dallas

my ankle would be broken if it looked like Ceedee ankle

ATL should be fired up next week after getting curbstomped today...wonder if Captain Kirk will see the field?

A few postgame thoughts:

Great rushing attack. CRod, McNichols, JCM, and Mariota all ran well. Great blocking by the line, tight ends, and receivers. That McNichols TD was a great individual effort.

Great pass rush. Wagner and Miller still getting sacks. Generally both sides of the ball are controlling the line of scrimmage, this is key.

Mariota is the perfect backup for JD, his running ability and read option experience allows Kliff to run his playbook without JD, and his veteran leadership keeps the offense humming.

Wagner is still a tackling machine.

Special teams is doing great with kick returns and covering kicks. That Jaylin Lane return was a beauty, he is wicked fast.

Deebo is proving to be a great weapon in the return game, rushing, and receiving.

Matt Gay is still shaky, missing inside the 40 is bad, but he may have saved his job with that 56-yard kick.

Luke McCaffery had a great game, several catches, blocks, tackles, and a big TD at the end. It is good to see his growth.

Still too many mistakes. The turnover, blown coverages, missed FG, penalties, etc. made this closer than it needed to be at times.

The injury bug continues to bite this team. At least our reserves have stepped in and played well. Hopefully we can get healthy.

Good news is the D line looks legit as I predicted. Bad news is the secondary looks shaky -- which suprises me and its really banged up. Reaves though looked good.

O line looked better but wonder if that was because the Raiders D line doesn't compare to NY or GB.

Run game looked very good. Deebo is a stud. Lane while has had shaky hands at WR has been an incredible punt returner.

whats the cowboys kickers story....a soccer player? we needs to just pay a bunch of soccer players to sit at some football goalposts behind the building and just train at kicking field goals for a year or two. develop our own

Kingsbury needs to keep this weeks offense, especially when it's working well running the ball.

The QB didn't throw any TDs until the end of the game and they still put up 40 with a backup QB.

If they go back to running the ball 12 times a game we're going to be spending a lot of time complaining about the OL.

Wow the shaking up appears to have worked well

I do t think Coleman sees the field as a starter again this season. Hopefully Conerly can build week to week.

I hope the OL performance today wasn’t a mirage.

Also, I think this run 1st style of offense is tailor made made for a running QB. We need to lean into the run. It’s striking how much more we run with Jayden out. Speaks to the confidence Kliff has in Jayden’s arm.

Also, we need to be getting Lane gadget touches like we do Deebo. And we still need more speed route running at WR.

When someone can say it better than me.

HTTR!

So i was away this weekend and didn't see any pre game stuff.
How did coleman go from a starter to inactive and in the doghouse in one week?

I will be very interested when they announce the starting OL this week! I wouldn't even offer a prediction at this point. I definitely want Coleman to be involved allowing him to progress.

I'd expect Lane to be involved in all kinds of different gadget plays similar to Deebo. Keep the opposing DC's guessing.

The special teams and defense made Kliffs life easier. It would have even been easier if Hoculi wasn't calling the game and if the players could reduce a few mistakes
