The talent on GB’s defense is something to aspire to. But it’s years away for us.

Hit the nail on the head there. 100% why I expected on a short week at their home we have no chance at all. Just being 100% real. How could one expect us to go in there and look like a juggernaut? Did we even get a practice in?

I think we made a tactical mistake for 2025 in not nabbing Clowney or Smith to bolster depth at DE.

Now they are both with division rivals.

I don’t see Martin, Baptiste, Holmes, etc holding up for 17 games with Wise out and Miller a role player at 36.

We have a lot of room under the cap but seem curiously lacking in any urgency to improve what we have with free agent deals for a few bucks for one year.

It’s not like these signings cost picks or other compensation.

So fans should not have players they like and have hopes the team mIght sign? Then if a division rival signs them, be a little bummed about it? We pay for tickets and merchandise and spend our lives watching and rooting for a team. If they want to hope to get a certain player then they are entitled to that. I think its funny when people think they are better or smarter then others myself.

You're good. Im sorry if I sounded rude. Part of a site like this is for us to talk about players we hope to draft or sign. And a majority of the time we are wrong. I remember being 13 and watching up win the Super Bowl against the Bills. So you got me beat my friend

The talent on GBs defense is home grown and extremely young. The 2 exceptions are Parsons and McKinney who they poached, but they are also young.

GB has apparently drafted well for players who fit. The exact opposite of what this team has done for 25+ years.

AP has work to do but it shouldn't take more than 1-2 more years if he finds the right players.

Green Bay had 11 picks in 2024. Peters was not afforded that same level of draft capital. He's had two very good drafts, but the number of picks have been limited (partially by his own doing, i get it).

That being said, I dont think we're that far off. The game seemed very lopsided, but we're an older, veteran built, short term team. We had a very limited practice week and we were playing a very good team on the road. Sometimes you just get your ass kicked because the matchup is bad. TB wore us out in week 1 last year, we were a different team by the end of the season. As things develop and progress, there will still be deficiencies with this team, but it will come together better.

It should not take an additional 3 years after 2025 for this team to lay down a solid foundation.

We had 9 picks in 2024 and were picking early near the top of the early rounds.

#1, #2, #2, #2, #3, #3 picks in top 100.

We had close to $90M in cap space to add veterans.

We then traded future picks in 2025 and 2026 for a proven LT and cover corner.

Given these circumstances and the fact we were able to retain 3 of our top 4 picks in 2025 to add talent to me is enough to start sketching the outlines of what we should be approaching.

With a franchise quarterback acquired via draft we should have an offense that features a solid OL, a young pass catching TE who is emerging behind an older vet, two younger WRs that are showing flashes of being future contributors, a young DT that is now getting ready to take on starter reps and play a solid two way game, and a secondary with corners that given these investments with two #2 picks and a bevy of picks for veteran lead cover man that should be effective in limiting most opponents passing games.

So, are we getting these things done?

At OL I would say mostly yes with Tunsil and the anticipated return of Sam Cosmi and perhaps a shift to a sane gameplan to give Conerly Jr. some help on the outside in his rookie campaign.

But how about the other areas?

Not much to indicate we have players emerging into true impact performers at this point.

And that goes for some veterans looked to for leadership.

McLaurin so far looks like a player coming back slowly from a major injury with what 4 catches in 2 games?

Not much explosiveness so far, must be all those gold coins in his pocket 🪙

I’m not remotely out on AP, and we all know more picks will bust than hit.

But I think anyone who says they don’t feel the seed of doubt growing in their gut, even a little, over AP’s first draft (other than Jayden) is lying to themselves or is protecting their heart because they’ve once again anointed someone as the franchise savior. We all thought five Day 2 picks in 2024 was an incredible bounty and would form the foundation of our rebuilt roster. Jayden, 3 2nds, and 2 3rds.

Watching teams with homegrown studs on offense and defense should absolutely freak us the fuck out given most of that bounty don’t seem to be the foundation for anything right now.

It’s not about bailing already, or being “out”, or a chicken little, or thinking we’re armchair GM’s, or even thinking that those players should be finished products in year two. It’s simply acknowledging that anyone not worried about that “draft haul” right now are acting as irrational as they accuse worried fans of being.

Those 5 picks were supposed to be AP’s war chest to start the rebuild, to the point people were getting crazy and asking in threads if it was a problem that they’d all be due to hit FA at the same time in four years.

It is absolutely a bit worrying that so many of those picks aren’t getting meaningful snaps or touches (and the ones that are, aren’t distinguishing themselves much). It’s not totally normal and even if you’re a patient fan, you have to fear (a little bit!) that if this regime doesn’t work out, that will have been the early red flag.

It’s not crazy or paranoid to worry about that group of pedigreed draft picks. It’s very rational.

We are the minor league for kickers. They all end up better than the randos that we replace them with. Going all the way back to David Akers in the early 90s.

It really is amazing how many kickers we let go who are still in the league. Now Dallas has a stud kicker when our last good kicker was Chip Lohmiller

There’s a huge gap between a juggernaut and what they did on Thursday. Pretty much everyone I know, read, and heard, acknowledged it was a tough task. If they went out there and competed, there’s no reason for gloom. But we didn’t - we looked like JV to their varsity and had no answers. You are downplaying how crappy they were.

I don’t really fault the doom and gloom after that game, it was super ugly. Not so sure about turning on AP, DQ and Kliff - one game wiping out the team’s performance from last year - but I get the frustration/concern.

The bright side is that Detroit got manhandled by GB as well, then turned around and whooped Chicago, similar to how we handled the Giants the week before.

Same thing happened to one of my packages going to the Philippines 3-4 years ago. USPS is unreliable, that is why you definitely should pay for the insurance. I got a 1200 dollar refund but unfortunately I had sent 2000 dollars worth of material.

We were having issues with PR after Maria tore us up, but 15 years living here and that's the only time there's been any issues. Now you can't trust USPS or even flying anywhere.

There's some worry but i also think theres a little pessimistic cherry picking going on too, compounded by the fact we just got our asses kicked.

Lets do some optimistic cherry picking.

There were 6 picks in the top 100.

Jayden by all accounts is a superstar, that could change we've seen it before but from what we know now he's a grand slam pick.

Newton is what you could expect to see from an early second round pick, he's not tearing it up like we'd obviously like to see but he's contributing and he's showing flashes, time will tell.

Sainristil is by all accounts a big hit, he played inside and outside his rookie year looking great, had 2 picks in the lions game that were game changers, hes being overshadowed by the fact that we traded away the chance to get cooper dejean but he's on the path to being a stud, maybe not a grand slam but a two run homer for sure.

Sinnot so far looks like a bust but as has been stated things could change.

Coleman had a solid rookie year especially being asked to start at left tackle as a 3rd round rookie, he held his own and theres no reason to believe he wont be a solid b plus type guard as he transitions to his new position, at this point id call him a good pick.

Mccaffrey so far has been a disappointment but as has been stated he was a qb in college and a late position switch almost always takes years to get positive results, look at logan thomas, he didn’t do squat until his 5th year in the league.

So, out of the 6 picks, as of right now just 19 games in, 3 are hits, one is up in the air and 2 are busts, thats not a bad hit rate for any gm despite them all being top 100, even the first round is 50/50 and after that the odds drop dramatically every round.

Some of the bad vibes are probably associated with the fact that we're briefly forgetting just how bad rivera left this roster because he couldn't draft at all, quite possibly the worst 4 year stretch in the history of the nfl and thats not hyperbole.

If we had a decent roster where these guys weren't all being expected to come in and be immediate superstars for us i believe we'd be a little happier with these results.

Agreed it’s too early to cast away the coaching staff or AP. That said though, the coaching decisions have been bad now for 2 weeks. Part of what made Dan endearing to us and his team was the balls to go on 4th. He’s bungled all the strategy stuff the past two weeks. He’s got a lot of making up to do.

The Packers beat a Division rival (Lions) 52-21. And each team had plenty of time to practice and game plan. People here are acting like thats how we lost. Im not down playing anything. I think we played a superior TEAM, on a short week at THEIR Home. As bad as we played we still could have made a run in the beginning of the 4th quarter to make a comeback. So we were in the game for almost the whole game. Do I wish we played better? Yes? Did our Defense give up 52 points and let the other team score more then double the points we did? No. It wasnt a blowout. Under the circumstances we played exactly how I expected us too. I knew the senerio and I knew 9 times out of 10 that game was going to be a loss. Us losing the game wasnt the biggest loss. 2 other things were bigger losses. #1 losing Ekeler for the year and #2 if we dont take this mini Bye week and turn around and slap around Vegas. Those are or will be the biggest loses. I do expect us to clobber Vegas. Did we have to win to make you all feel bette Cause we cant win every game. If we only lost by 3 would you feel better? Didn't we miss 2 FGs? so we could have only lost by 3 right? Yes we played lousy and we wish there was something that made us feel better about that game. But the team that should have won did.

Fair or not, this team needed AP's first draft to be magic with most if not all picks. He was handed top picks in the rounds and traded away players to create even a more favorable draft. Add that to the ultra weak and older roster he inherited due to Ron, Danny, Etc... and we those picks needed to pretty much all be hits.

I am still high on AP who has seen weaknesses and tried to fill them so much better than we are accustomed to in Washington. I expect as the front office, staff, scouting team, players gel like we need our OL to do, this team will continue to enjoy success.

We are at a point where we cannot continue to come out of drafts with only a handful of picks and for a couple of them to miss. The 2025 draft was stacked in the first few rounds and instead of trading back and accumulating picks to kick the youth movement in while growing talent and getting more cap relief with more players on rookies contracts, it was decided to select where the picks felll. By using this method, AP gets less slack in missing on draft picks in the first few rounds. Conerly must be a hit starter and the idea when drafted was at a tackle position. He needs to hit
