I know its sort of an amorphous point, no way to be proved. But I does comes off that this coaching staff-FO were feeling themselves some. Heck Josh Harris said publicly, this is going to be a great game.
I don't think it regsitered with them, that they could be dominated. And look i don't mean it as a shot. I think its natural in sports. Almost all teams go through this where they need to find their edge and in order to get to that point they need some humble pie.
As i mentioned when you watch the America's Game recaps of teams winning SBs, when they interview coaches and players, there is usually some turning point where they got beat and it awakens them in a big away including the Eagles after their slow start last year.
I am not saying this team was overconfident. But when you get on a roll and everyone is sucking up to you and people are talking SB -- and clearly the way this FO approached the off season, they are thinking SB -- you can get a little complacent or lose your edge.
It hurts to lose like they did last night because they were dominated. But in terms of a wakeup call, its a fast forward version of it. If lets say they lost by 1 point or they played well but were foiled by turnovers or name that easy explanation, they can shrug it off. But they can't shrug off what happened yesterday.
