Covering the Commanders: Keim and Company Discussion

I thought the nflpa had pretty strict rules on how much direct time you could spend coaching your players.

Seems like they're walking a fine line having coaches running walk throughs every day at 6 am.

Or am i missing something?

In the offseason this is very strictly enforced. During the season you’re essentially on the clock, there’s really only a limit on padded full-contact practices I believe (though teams rarely do those during the season anyways. Or offseason, actually). They can’t require the players be at the facility that early, I’d wager. But I don’t think they can stop people at the facility from working together
 
Not sure this belongs here, but it felt like we were watching the Giants home team network. Brady and crew couldn’t have been bigger Giants homers

Eh, I'm not sure I agree with that. I think they were pretty fair and even in terms of the coverage.

Also, at one point when talking about something the Giants did (I think it was an easy drop) he said "And that is what we call bad football."

I didn't feel like there was a rooting interest at all. I actually thought Brady really improved from the games I heard him do last year. He was right on top of a few calls, including the JD5 intentional grounding at the end of the half, and he was pretty blunt about what he thought about drops and things.

I said this last year, if Brady gets his footing, he could be spectacular at doing color commentary because he comes with 100% credibility in every situation. I agreed with Quinn when they took the TO at the end of the first half, and Brady said he preferred to use the offense to control the clock and keep the TO for a last second FG.

He clearly knows what he's talking about, and was proven right. I made the point in the chat that if Sanchez had said that, I would have said, "what the hell do you know Butt Fumble?" But when Brady says it, it carries immediate credibility.

Even though he's a smug POS, he's got all the rings and the credibility.
 
They never shut up about the Giants. Whether they were on offense or defense they were the focal point and every bit of discussion was what the Giants had to do.

I think you may have interpreted things to match what you expected to hear in this case, because that’s not how I felt while listening to the game at all. Feels like whatever chip some people have on their shoulder re: refs, commentators, media, etc. is hard to shake. A lot of people have very selective hearing and are looking to get upset (not saying that’s you in this case, although I do disagree with you on this game)

Also, there was a little more to talk about with the Giants because they were the chic pick to beat us and be one of the most improved teams in the league. They had the best +- in the preseason and the had all the hype and mojo.

And then they completely fizzled almost immediately.

We sortof bumbles around but did what we were supposed to do in generally unremarkable fashion.

So they talked about what they could talk about.

Frankly, it was kindof a boring, sloppy game throughout and that’s tough for the broadcast team

I remember the Giants going undefeated in the preseason one year and then winning only 2 games all season.
 
This isn’t directly Commanders related, but how the hell Jason Garrett has a job commenting on football is beyond me. The only real difference between Garrett and damn fool Jay is Garrett had a better team and clapped more and didn’t let his star WR give him a purple nirple. Otherwise both of them are essentially losers.

Also Chris Simms is a moronic loud mouth dumbass.

The Sunday Night halftime crew are just awful.

I have no idea how Chris Simms managed to trade a Bleacher Report job for a Sunday Night Football job.

Jayden is on pace for 1,000 yards rushing and once again made it feel easy, lackadaisical, and just a byproduct of taking what the defense gave him most of the time rather than some crazy effort. Low stress, was barely touched and even his sacks were quick whistle blows because the man has ref protection now as a stud face of the NFL.

Someone on a Giants pod cast said the Giants are now the first team since Detroit in 1940-1942 to go 3 straight openers without scoring a touchdown.
