Yeah, well, I've never been a big fan for Goff. And I think kneecap biting Dan Campbell has so angered the football Gods by doing stupid things with clock management, they are going to strike him down in furious anger.

I know we play the NFC North this year. It's really possible GB and the Bears are the best 2 teams in that division, and the Vikings and Detroit will be fighting for 3rd place. And that's not a reflection from today's games, it's from the off-season.

my son is 33. He is a skins fan as well. His first game was at RFK. We were in the upper deck and when the pregame was on the band was marching and he asked why CHICKENS were walking on the field ....

I just want to say that nobody bodders me either!!!

And Lattimore was good today for the most part.

I did find it REALLY interesting how much Amos was matched up on Nabers. I thought Lattimore would follow him everywhere, but they really trusted the rookie to lock up with Nabers quite a bit. Good on him.
 
It’s weird, because I had week 1 jitters going into the game, but there was one single moment that happened early in the game and I never worried after it. The sideline pass to Moore that Daniels chucked, rolling right. That moment let me breathe out, he hadn’t turned back into a pumpkin at midnight, he is in fact a stud, it is all in fact real, I didn’t imagine it.

Breathed easy the rest of the game, never worried once that we’d give the game away even though our sloppiness and rustiness in week 1 let the Giants stick around too long. A strangely zen experience for me, despite all the build-up and my feeling beforehand that it would be a closer game. Once Jayden made that pass it just felt like things would fall into place, he’s the same guy, we’re the same ascending team.

It’s even funnier because the passing game is arguably the one thing that didn’t really work today, other than when it had to, but that’s how I felt.

We will see in about 4 days if the defenses is improved or the Giants offense is TURRIBLE.

I know I am fascinated by it now.

I did expect and predicted the pass rush would give the Giants problems. I also predicted our running game would give them problems. And on a macro basis the rest of the NFL. What i didn't expect and predict was this team would stop the run. I thought they would actually suck at stopping the run and they were fantastic at it.

Now yeah it could be the Giants O line. But if we see it versus GB, lol, am booking my hotel at Santa Clara. But agree I need to see it again.
 
Some thoughts on the game:

The veterans were key to victory today. Ertz, Ekeler, Wagner, Payne, and Deebo all played great.

The defensive line was impressive against the run and pass. Payne was outstanding, Newton showed up, Wise was good, Armstrong was in the backfield a lot, and I now see why they brought in Kinlaw, who had a strong showing.

The red zone defense was outstanding.

Jayden Daniels had a few uncharacteristic mistakes, especially the sequence to end the half, but man he is so good. He had several great throws, especially that sideline pass and TD to Ertz, he protected the ball, and his running ability is a game changer.

Special teams was mostly good. Kick and punt coverage looked great compared to preseason. Way had a great punt. McCaffery had a decent return. The one gaff was when Sinnott let a guy get by him to tip a punt.

There was some rust or sloppiness for sure. Timing was off on some passes, too many penalties, etc.

The officiating was bad. That personal foul penalty on Wagner was BS, and Terry caught that ball.

Overall we looked really good, and it’s just so great to be able to win a game comfortably despite the sloppiness, rust, officiating, etc.

I was worried as heck 2 weeks or so ago.

But two things shifted me in recent days.

A. Thomas injury. They got a bad O line but when he's out it devolves to comically bad.

B. The Giants hype being out of control. Felt like bad karma for them. :)

I still thought the game would be close and it wasn't. Of my fears about the game, the irony is I think some of them came off true.

A. Chemistry with outside WRs
B. Rust of the outside WRs, can't play the full game
C. O line learning to play together for the first time -- this was mostly ok, but Conerly had some rough moments
D. The team in general being a bit rusty from not playing in the preseason

What didn't come true among my fears
A. the secondary taking their time -- Amos being a rookie
B. Giants being sharper from playing so much in the preseason

As for the macro aspect of the team -- as to the perceived weaknesses of this team: I thought pass rush would be good, running game would be good, run stopping would be bad. I thought they had a shot at the SB -- 10-7, 11-6 range. But thought they could start slow.

After this game, my feelings about them not being sharp at the start of the season hasn't been reassured. But if doesn't matter as long as you win. But the defense playing such a well rounded game -- stopping the run and rushing the passer is making the SB dreams feel easier for me. But I agree with Voice_of_Reason lets see it against GB.

I think if Kinlaw is who Peters think he is and Payne has his contract type of season. That alone is a game changer for this unit.

Lattimore played better but he needs to control his emotions, he's a walking penalty waiting to happen. I wasn't watching Amos closely but I gather he played well.

Armstrong has had a big camp, and had a big day today.
 
I predicted this after this game, not that it was a hard prediction. They got nothing to lose. Even if he's not hot initially you sell that he's improving.

 
Interesting, I just watched the Quinn press conference and he more or less admitted that preseason reps or lack thereof impacts the sharpness of the team -- in response to the penalities, etc.

Even though I didn't love that aproach juxtaposed to the Giants playing their starters I didn't criticize Quinn for it because it might be the better move over the long haul of the season -- I don't know one way or another. But I didn't like it specifically as for their chances in game 1.

Now its game 2. The Packers are another team that played their starters in the preseason, though unfortunately for them, Jordan Love got banged up in the first preseason game. But they looked sharp today. I figure though and hope they knocked the rust off in this game and are ready to go on Thursday. I also think considering they are playing a big time team on the road -- their motivation level is sky high.
