The All Things Terry Thread

The team needs to offer him a 5 million bump this season and a total of 85-90 with 50 guaranteed for the following 3 seasons. If he doesn't like that then let make him play this season and then do a sign and trade with him next season

He could be a bit of a meat head who has simply remained mysterious to us via his “blue collar hard worker” persona that nobody questions. I’m beginning to question whether he’s secretly a dummy, or secretly a huge ego case and it just never came out much before because Snyder gave in to his previous contract demands before anything went public.

I hate to say it, but it recently occurred to me that he was the product of the same program as Dwayne Haskins and Chase Young.

Why in the world would we do this?

Those three added years would be 31, 32, and 33 year old seasons. Paying him close to 30M per year for those seasons would be stupid.

I'm totally fine with a small bump this year and maybe one more at ~28M.
 
I'm kind of disappointed in GMAP that he did not anticipate this. I hope that he has a backup plan

What need is there for a backup plan? We have Terry this year and he realistically has to ball out if he ever wants to get paid again. We can Franchise Tag him after the season for less than he’s asking for. We could technically do it again after that but won’t. That’s 2-3 years of control if he remains unreasonable. Terry always had to be replaced/supported with a young WR1 in the next couple years anyways. AP is playing it fine imo, even taking into account McLaurin’s irrationality at this point.
 
It took a few games before Terry pushed 5 to trust him to make a play downfield.

We will need to find someone else to make plays downfield when Terry cheers turn to boo's if he missed games playing his agents prima donna pay me card. I dont think Gallup is it but he may be the best we have to go deep. I want to see JD5 find a new guy to trust. I have my doubts on Luke after seeing him ignored last year. Osborn and Lane meh low expectations on them gaining that trust. I expect a shit ton of short passes yes even more than last year.
 
Kliff was quoted yesterday bout needing to get his guys back on the field... the next day this happens.

I have to imagine there is at least some sort of connection. Terry's camp is likely on notice that they're not going to pout their way to a bigger payday. If Terry was willing to actually hold the team hostage, he wouldn't come back. IMHO this further solidifies that Terry is not actually wanting to punish the team for this, he was just making business decisions.
 
Small step? Seems like a huge step to me. Bro is running out of time, realizes he doesn’t have leverage, and will need to start practicing. Plus coming off of PUP ends the remote possibility of him collecting game checks while refusing to play (which was never going to happen, but still).

I think this game of chicken ends with Terry not only playing this year, but actually contributing in a big way. I don't think the leaders in our locker room are going to let him slack this season because he's unhappy!
 
lol, at a minimum it defeats Lynell Winningham's argument, who guest hosts a lot on the radio, that the local media and fans are sleeping on the idea that Terry will just ride pup into the season and be able to miss games without losing pay checks. The argument struck me wild.
 
Am I wrong or doesn't this also mean that he is now once again subject to $50,000 fines for missed practice days?

I could be wrong but I thought that was the major benefit for him of being on the PUP list?

I believe he can be fined now yes.
 
So, just as a contrast to the more positive 'This means Terry is ready to come to work!' take, this also represents the front office saying 'enough of this, report to work or suffer the consequences' hardball.

That seems the more accurate take to me?
