The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Predicting that Cleveland will trade all 8 of their QBs in order to move to drafting #1 overall. However, Archie and Cooper convince Arch to refuse to play for the Browns and is thus traded to the Steelers in exchange for getting Shedur back. Deion then invokes the "no take-back" rule. Goodell is left with no other option than a WWE style Rock-Paper-Scissors cage match to settle the dispute. (It could happen)

How is this thread on fire?

You guys have a problem and need to seek professional advice.
🤣
Haha, well the prognosticators have begun putting all of their predictions out for 2026 Rnd1, and Kiper is talking about how he fared with last year's way-too-early predictions. I guess that aspect is interesting; seeing how you fared when the 2026 draft comes up, how things change.

24th pick?

That's got to be a mistake.
I don't know how CBS determined the order but I'm guessing they did something like the early 2026 mock done by Jason Reid on ESPN where they used the ESPN/BET odds for the 2025 season as a baseline with some minimal manual shifting to make sure each conference had an equal number of playoff teams.

That Mock has Washington drafting #26 overall.

I'm moving this to the NFL forum since it's non-Commanders specific.

Understood but there are normally a lot of Commander related posts in the draft threads. I recently posted info on a couple of players I really like for the Commanders

With the college season right around the corner, I figured I would give this thread a bump. Let the WR discussion begin…lol

Yeah with the price of top WRs getting out of control drafting good WRs will be very important. I mean it's kind of crazy to give a WR $30 million a season when that figure can be combined to obtain or retain several top players at other positons.

Okay. I don't really get it - but if it makes someone else happy :)

Appreciate you being flexible on this and leaving it in the main forum here, a lot of us newer faces have a deep history with spending a lot of time in these draft threads even during the season (in a Washington-related way), probably as a coping mechanism for how bad we were in recent decades 😂 but having it here on the main forum will bring a lot of value even before draft season imo, gracias

I still think it's too early. I'm not editing the third post in this thread until games are actually being played.

But it's less early than April. :p

And by April this response will be old.
