What I have come to learn is that you can make numbers say whatever you want them to if you frame the argument the right way.

There are people who could make a coherent argument for the stadium just as well as the ones who could make one against it…and both can use “numbers” to back their case up.

The full truth is somewhere else.
 
What’s ironic to me is Washington handed Lerner a new stadium with infrastructure and tax breaks for the Nationals in 2005.

Now after Ted passed away the city is stuck with a team where his son, the new owner, doesn’t want to exceed the payroll of the White Sox or Royals and attendance is bottom third.

The area is stagnant and rising crime has lead to increased vacancies in re commercial and residential.

At least with Harris group there is long track record of ownership of sports franchises and from his history little chance he is going to stiff the city with a deal for stadium that will be half empty because they won’t meet a salary floor and end up with no real economic growth prospects.
 
Seems to me the question is now when it becomes official. Not if it becomes official.

The rational naysayers are going to start to run out of excuses soon.
 
They're demanding it be all union huh?

At the end, the sense remained that Council chairman Phil Mendelson (D) has the minimum eight votes needed from the 12 current council members to pass the legislation. If the measure passes Friday, a second vote will be needed in mid-September ( September 17th ), that vote would require nine yes votes, after Ward 8 councilman-elect Trayon White is sworn in.

Asked if she thinks she and the city have the votes, Bowser said, “Yes.”

“We were very pleased with the session,” Bowser said. “We got some good questions out, got to answer them publicly, directly. We feel pretty good about it.”

Even while they are run by the richest person in the world? They're just mad he's laying off a bunch of people. No other stadium has received the amount of personal investment HOG is willing to put forward and DC is slated get over 600 million in revenue over the next 20 years, simply because the stadium will exist. The Compost can go F itself.
