Washington Commanders 2025 Season: Expectations

Decades of disappointment has me reluctant to make predictions. It’d be hard to top the magic last season, if only because it was such a surprise.

But one thing I’m especially enjoying this year is the sheer number of athletic young prospects, like McCaffrey, Sinnott, Lane, Croskey-Merritt, Conerly, Coleman, Newton, Kinlaw, Amos, Magee, Owens, and Hampton. The team has gotta hit on some of them, right?

But one thing I’m especially enjoying this year is the sheer number of athletic young prospects, like McCaffrey, Sinnott, Lane, Croskey-Merritt, Conerly, Coleman, Newton, Kinlaw, Amos, Magee, Owens, and Hampton. The team has gotta hit on some of them, right?

We have an actual list of young draftees to get excited about. Not just one or two. Not just a first rounder taken in the first five picks, but a whole pack!

Gonna take a moment to feel good about that.

The NFL has become more and more about the pass and the ability to defend it.

Adding Tunsil and Conerly Jr. on the OL to protect Daniels helps our passing game immeasurably. The addition of Deebo and Lane should provide an element of change of pace and quick/explosive speed we lacked last year at the WR position.

On defense, we added Trey Amos to a unit with a top rookie from last year in Mike Sainristil and a couple of veterans in Lattimore and Jones that I think will be major contributors in 2025. Expectations for Quan Martin are also high, one of two Rivera draft picks to prove to be worth the time to bring in here, joining Sam Cosmi.

I expect minimum 10 wins and to make the playoffs. This is very minimum. If defense end up good and Terry gets signed I expect 12-13 wins minimum. Either way will be a fun year. Always loved Deebo since he smoked Dallas in a huge playoff game. Kid is money for yac.

That would be indeed ironic if the Washington DEFENSE comes out and is 100% better than last year and we end up winning games on that side of the ball as well

They should definitely be better against the rush. Honestly feel it was the main objective of the offseason other than the offensive line upgrade. I'm also excited to see what Magee can be. Kid is supposed to be uber physical.

Really enjoyed this detailed and thoughtful breakdown from someone who was super low on Washington last year, and is lower than consensus again this year. I think the points he made were largely fair and accurate, though I think he’s putting too little weight on the potential force multiplier effect of year 2 Jayden.

His is a good football account to follow in general if you’re looking for offseason content to binge.

Funny how despite the chaos and lack of success on the field Dallas seems to always crawl into predictions of division finish and playoff contention.

Meanwhile Washington is one of those teams like the Texans that get no breaks from talking heads.

While there are holes on EVERY team it appears ours are the ones that are really going to cost the team while holes on some other clubs are minimized and evidently ones they can work through 😂😂😂😂

They didn't overpay their two or 3 DL guys who just left, probably never to be heard from again.

This might also be the downside of buying everything ala carte. I mean I realize we're mostly doing cheap one-year deals, but we're doing a lot of one-year deals which means all the money and bonuses, etc. has to count this year. None of it can be spread out. Then again, cheap deals aren't exactly cheap. I mean Wagner alone is getting about 9m. That's close to a seventh of the entire Eagles' defensive payroll.
