Virginia doesn’t want to spend the money and Maryland is broke.

The stadium will end up at RFK. The word I heard on the junks this morning is Wes Moore doesn’t plan on making a push for them now.

Even if the feds have a hand in the land deal, this is 100% a distraction play rather than a serious position. Funny how these big stances always pop up when other headlines aren't so flattering.

I think we all know how this ends: bold talk, zero follow-through, followed by just dropping it.
 
I was a policy analyst in Congress for a while and got majorly disillusioned with politics and politicians, then left. I have since come to understand it is not their job to serve their constituents, their job is to get re-elected. If the timeline did not allow for board members to wave their parts and assume the position, then that should have been built in.

I expect there will be some minor reshuffling of the furniture so they can take credit. That’s just the way it works. My understanding is the team is flexible on this as long as the general terms and approximate cost do not change.

Nightmare scenario to finally be relevant again on the field and to then have the narrative around this franchise once again become a microcosm of larger political factions clashing. That’s why I never want to hear about the old brand again in this context. Because it’ll never be clean, never be free of this political stuff even if it were “right”. If we want a regular team again, which we’re well on our way to finally experiencing, then we need to let this die forever and leave being the flashpoint of controversy, deserved or not, in the past. It’s exhausting and has nothing to do with football. I prefer football in my football, even if I hate Commanders. I can get the rest of that stuff in the rest of the world where it’s 1000% unavoidable if you’re an engaged person. Sports, last time I checked, is supposed to bring people together. Shared suffering, shared exultation. A communal experience unique to sports that’s easily tainted by dumb shit.

The fans of this team have been kicked around for decades. Kicked around for being losers and kicked around as a political football. It hurts a little seeing people so eager to be kicked around again.

The only reason this has come up is because we were successful last year. Success is fleeting. God forbid something happens to Jayden, because if the team name changed again in the next season or two and Jayden isn't there to prop the team up, the goodwill would be gone. The barrage of politics would be as hellish as last 10 years and might be enough to make me give up the hobby that has given a lifetime of embarrassment and humiliation.
