(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

The old name is ever coming back nor do I care about it any longer, plus the more time that goes by the less appetite there will be for it anyway. Within the next decade there is a good chance this franchise will have secured a couple championships as The Commanders and that will effectively put to bed any desperate attempts to go backwards. Dan Snyder spent a low 30 years systematically destroying everything once beloved about the franchise and a clean break with new ownership was more than welcome for me. Also, the white jersey uniform was easily the worst looking of all the new options so I am down with bringing back the old look on that front.

I just wanted a clean break from Snyder, not the identity and traditions that go back a lot longer than just the Snyder years. Sadly though, I do have to agree that the hunger for the old name will slowly fade away over time. But I do have to wonder if you’re right that a couple championships will take the Snyder stench off the new name. I know that since we’re keeping it, I don’t feel that we’ve made a clean break from Snyder, at least not completely. Hopefully I will at some point. Let’s go get those championships so I can find out!

Sorry bro, wasn't trying to start anything political. Let's just say I was and continue to be upset over the circumstances under which the name was changed. As for the name (and for the folks that might not know me) I was on the periphery of the team for a number of years, as my Mom was Mr Cooke's secretary. I was privileged to be able to hang around the park when I was home on leave and was able to meet most of the Super Bowl players, as well as most of the staff and Mr Cooke on several occasions. I remember in his office he had a VERY large book/photo album full of letters from various tribes/tribe members saying how proud they were to be represented by a professional football team. I think Mr John may have the book these days, but I'm not certain of that. Anyway, it just seems a shame to me that the opinions of the people that helped design the logo and were cool with the name are being completely disregarded because a few people are upset. And it's unfortunate that all of the other names that represent the Tribes are taken, because I wouldn't mind so much if we were renamed the Warriors or Chieftains or something along those lines. But "commanders"? Please. And that, is all I have to say about it. We'll see were the future goes. Peace out.

I can only assume that more is to come. I’m going to speculate that we will see what all this means as we get closer to the season. Could all mean nothing and it’s just a promo for the players, but they could’ve done that in any form…they didn’t have to do it with a Greco-Roman theme.

Yeah, I hear ya. I just downsized a 3-level house into a 1-BR apartment...it's been a struggle!
 
Anyone heard any updates on when the alternate jerseys will be available for pre sale? They had originally said some time in August.

I have not seen any updates on that no. Might coincide with the first preseason game… maybe… hopefully. 👍
