Just got home from our family Vacation in Myrtle Beach. And every time we go (every 2-3 years) my Son and I always go through all the Sports stores at Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach and purchase merchandise. Well of course the last time we were there the team was called the Football Team whereas this time it’s Commanders. Can I say out of all the teams (NFL & College) by far our merchandise is easily the most bluh and bland of them all. Hats and shirts is pretty much what I’m speaking of. The plain old W is just that, it’s very bland and generic looking and even the shirts are something you’d see done on your Wife’s Cricut and sold. Saying all this it’s very clear that a rebrand of some sort has to take place imho. Spice up the W somehow someway, I mean even when the Ravens came into existence they had that awful huge B but at least they incorporated a shield and some bird feathers if I recall correctly

Shorten it a tad and run it through the middle of the W would be spot on for me

This may sound stupid but I wish we had a different name other than Commanders. One we could shorten like "Skins" . Or like "Gmen" for my NYG friends. Silly I know but just sayin.....

Not silly at all, I’m in total agreement … we can’t really shorten Commanders and have it sound as good as Skins was or Pack is for Packers or even 9ers for the 49ers

I have always thought the W could be angled forward a bit to give the impression of pointing towards the front. In a similar manner to the way you did that photoshop.

That would be my Birthday and Christmas morning combined by a power of 10. I would buy a Commanders Jersey the next day and I said I would ride with my Skins Jerseys till I die.

I think the complaining would’ve been far less. We needed to lose the Native American imagery for sure, but there was no need to go so drastically different with the jersey style.

I agree - and I don’t think it would feel so raw still in many ways of they had gone this route.

There would have been complaints annd controversy about the W regardless - because anything other than the most beautiful logo in the history of sports pales in comparison. But the current uniforms were probably as a dramatic a shift as you could go without changing the official colors from B&G. The white abominations certainly was.

I obviously grew up out of the market and never had ties to the Washington locale. I still hold on tight to the memory of how it felt when the burgundy and gold appeared on my television on Sundays as a young boy. I used to get Lions and Bills games on the weekly, and when I was gifted a Skins game on the tube it was an experience like no other. The white on burgundy, the logo, the end zone at RFK - strangely enough, these elements tied into my fandom as much as anything else. When the name change happened and subsequent uniform makeover arrived, my team was ultimately taken away and a part of me was stolen. In today’s climate, I can partially wrap my head around why Redskins was going to eventually find its way out the door. I can never understand why the uniforms were changed so drastically though, to the point where it felt like an expansion team was forced upon me. The lifelong fans who have been part of the lifeblood of this franchise would love nothing more than to look at the tv screen and feel like they are watching their Redskins, even though they can’t call us that anymore. For these reasons, I would be thrilled if we get something simple on Wednesday that resembles our traditional look.

^^^I think we are definitely going to get something that more closely resembles our traditional look. I just hope that it checks enough boxes to mostly satisfy the long-time fans.

My heart has hurt over much of this over the past 5 years, and it would feel good to start to get some closure on it all. To reinforce your thoughts, if they look like the Redskins “in spirit” that would be a big step in the right direction.

Unfortunately, this was a very complex issue with very strong opinions on both sides. However, we have no politics on BGO, so I would refrain from going any further down this road.

Definitely Definitely agreed 👍🏻…. It always baffled me why they went and reinvented the wheel, I completely understand getting away from the name referring to Native Americans (even though I don’t agree) but the uniform didn’t need changed, if anything just revamped a bit.

I like the “W”…it stands for something now when you see it. Could stylize it a little more.
