I spent some time listening to my awesome chi-fi tube anp a few days ago and when I was done I guess I forgot to turn it off so I blew at least one tube in the left channel.

Whoops, guess I'll have to find replacements for 4 of them

Good thing I can just switch to this one. It's lower powered but still sounds unbelievable.

Leaving a tube amp on shouldn't blow a tube. Something is wrong with the circuit or tube. What was the tube? EL34 or other? Buy them in matched pairs.

I have 4 serious guitar amps, hand wired, all tubes. Make sure you bias/calibrate after replacing. BE VERY CAREFUL of the voltage plate even if the amp is off. You can electrocute yourself!

Yeah, I know that but the left side was seriously unbiased because I forgot to check before playing music. That one tube is totally fried, the 6SL7, I'll have to check the others but it's probably better to just replace the set. Those are the factory set from China, probably not that good anyway.
 
Chinese tubes are shit. Get some Russian matched pairs at least

Oh, I've got better than that. I'll break out son NOS RCA's, Sylvania's and some 40's tubes that might work, we will see. I was just letting those cheap originals run through but yeah they most likely do suck.

My other amps/preamps have much better tubes though.

Today I mowed my back yard and I ended up finding 3 different rabbit baby holes under my lawn mower. I killed at least 2 rabbits and saw another 10 run off. I wish they'd find a better place to make their home but it's like this every year. I have one big hole over on the side where they usually have babies and I don't even mow there but I guess it's full so they drop them all over my backyard.
 
I would hate to kill rabbits as I mowed. When I mowed our field after waiting far too long I hit a number of box turtles and learned if you shave off the top of their shell it kills them. Yesterday I was in the same situaiton due to a beach trip and I nearly hit another turtle. This caused me to slow to a crawl as I really didn't want to kill any turtles.
 
I went to a dinner party, the wife passed to visit her sister, that started with apps at 4:00. By 7:30 the group was leaving. As this friend was only 17 minutes away and it was July 5th it was still light for another hour and a half and I had a Saturday evening after attending a dinner party. It was great, I highly recommend this start time for others.

Yesterday I was trying to get to Harris Teeter and I had to come to a screeching halt as an assembly of geese were crossing the road.

Very charming, and this has been going on for quite some time - ten years or more, right?

If you've never seen one, it looks like this:



When vehicles were finally permitted to proceed, I did my shopping. I was in HT maybe 15 minutes. When I came out, I was ready.

And yes, as expected, I could see them again! A few of them were in the sunshine - crossing like they owned the place. But more were on the edge of the curb, hiding in the shade, ready to jump out into traffic. They are hard to see in the sunshine!

If you hit a goose, you're going straight to hell. You know that, right? There's no negotiation. There's no confessional with Father Merrin behind the screen who will help you. Even if it's by accident, you're dog meat.

So, the line of geese and goslings finally clears. Except these goslings are actually older now - drinking age at least, still living at home apparently.

So, we proceed past the swarm that are on BOTH sides of the road and — there's ANOTHER line of geese crossing! I swear I am not making this up. A SECOND line of geese crossing fifty feet beyond the first line. There must have been eighty geese total there.

So now, we are waiting AGAIN. And the geese are all around us. It's like something from a 1963 horror film. You don't dare look them in the eye. Just stare straight ahead. Try not to panic. They feed on panic.

We need like a tunnel or something. Like they have on 16th Street as you are heading towards the White House. Just go under the crossroad. Easy. That's what we need. And none of this maybe-in-fifty-years-from-now stuff. It needs to be done now.

^^^ That's like the turtles here on Tybee Island. There are actually signs that say SLOW DOWN FOR TURTLES on the road.

But when you see it all happen, it's super cool.

Will retire here. 3 homes is the plan; city beach and mountains.
