The BBQ Thread

View attachment 11169

Many chickens sacrificed their lives for our Mother’s Day dinner. Simple cook. Marinade in BBQ sauce and throw on grill. I did bone in, skin on chicken thighs because I’m cooking for 12. And that was cheapest.

Easy but turned out really well.

Love it

She only likes white meat...pffft!

I didn't grow up eating chicken thighs. I probably didn't try thighs until 5 or 10 years ago (other than maybe take out fried chicken). They are so much better than chicken breasts which I find tend to be dry and comparatively bland no matter what you do.

I have started to brine my chicken breasts, which works well if you have the time.

Have I told the “has juicy breasts” story? I know I told it but I can’t remember if not was here or ES.

Y'all better get up and dance when y'all be cookin on dat grill!

Mercy now! I'm callin! I'm callin!

I don't want to say anything, but DLSF just emailed me advising me that there's a full moon tonight. And you know what that means.

I don't believe so. It sounds intriguing.
In high school, I had friends who were dating. Let’s call them John and Mary. (The names have been changed to protect the insanely guilty.)

John’s father was an executive restaurant chef.

I was over at John’s house. Mary bought two “juicy chicken breasts” to make for her and her mom, and called John on the house telephone (because this was like 1994-ish and that’s what we did) and asked John if he could ask his dad how to prepare her two juicy chicken breasts. (She kept referring to them as juicy chicken breasts. Not sure why. Probably intentional.)

And not really thinking, John calls to his father “Hey dad, Mary has 2 juicy breasts and wants to know what to do with them.”

Hilarity ensued.

The end.

Here is a unique video of Malcom smoking camel (the four legged kind). I never even considered a smoked camel before.

"I’ve cooked a lot of different meats in my day… but I never thought I’d smoke camel. When Kevin from The Butcher Shoppe sent this camel tenderloin to me… I put it in the freezer and it stayed there for a while. I had no idea how to cook it… I was worried it was going to have a weird taste… and to be honest, I was a little turned off by the idea of eating camel. But I finally broke down, thawed it out and cooked it the best way I knew how. And I gotta say… camel is pretty dang good!"

I ate a whole roasted baby camel, goat and lamb over an open fire pit, with the big tent and rugs, with Bedouin, while in Saudi Arabia with my Aramco clients. It was amazing!

Later that night we went 4 wheeling in buggys over the sand dunes and under the biggest full moon I have ever seen.

That sounds like a great work trip. The full moon helped your vision at night on the buggies but the Saudi Arabia stars and night sky would have been mind blowing without that bright moon washing the stars out.
