The 2025 Free Agency Thread

For sure his injury was catastrophic, and the price may be a little high with at least Cleveland and Chicago interested in him, so it’s probably not realistic. Still he’s a fan favorite for a reason, and he was one of the best in the business when he got hurt. I would love to have him if he is healthy.

Id be absolutely taking a look to see how he's doing and what it would take to get him here. If he's ANYTHING like what he was, he's a huge upgrade over BRob (meh-Rob).

Recently saw a video of Chubb training, never realized he was as athletic as the video showed he was, very impressive, I hope we take a look at him.

When young and healthy he was arguably one of the biggest freaks in the entire league. Talented as hell obviously but also an amazing workout warrior. Unbelievable squat and deadlift numbers and such, with 4.4 speed

I would absolutely take a shot on Chubb. Regardless of injuries that’s the closest thing you have to our version (this year) of Barkley. If he doesn’t last the year we’ve still got depth.

I love the guy, but I would not say regardless of injuries, we would have to do our due diligence on that.

If he really is healthy, then it makes sense for us. He would fit DQ’s culture, we could keep him on a pitch count in a committee, and he seems like the sort of vet AP likes to sign to 1-2-year deals (e.g. compare Wagner, Ertz, Ekeler, Lattimore, etc.). And we could really use a back with some power.

Commanders Wire and Sheehan also mentioned him in association with us. All speculation:

I like the idea of it a lot. Make Chubb the lead back spelled by Ekeler and let BRob compete with the others for RB3. JCM could go to the practice squad if he can’t beat out BRob.

I would still be surprised if it happened.

I could see taking a look at Chubbs health. He would not cost much.

Our current RB room isn't going to scare anyone mainly because Ekeler is too prone to concussions along with injury in general. The others I don't put much faith in including BRob and JCM even they will have a better OL to run behind.

He really would have fresh legs as they haven't had much usage over the last few years other than workouts.

I don't think we should assume JCM is going to be last on the depth chart. This draft was absolutely stocked with RBs and the fact he only ran it like 13 times in 2024 due to an eligibility issue also caused him to drop. He may well turn out to be the 2nd best back on this roster behind Ekeler when the dust settles.

Regarding JCM, no assumptions on him being a stud or a jag, just keeping expectations to a minimum.

I was more reacting to the idea of putting him on the practice squad tbh. I think it's more likely we release a back to make room if they decided to take a flyer on Chubb or add another back.

I agree, I see him making the active roster or risk getting plucked from the PS if he shows anything in preseason.

Wouldn't that be something.

I don't know why, but I have high hopes for Bill.

(Also, every time I write Bill instead of his proper name my mind flashes to the song A Boy Named Sue. I can't be the only one, can I?)

Any of you guys call me Francis....I kill you

Anyone other than BRob and Ekler are reasonably likely to get cut. iF they sign a back like Chubb, it's because he's gonna be on the roster.

Id be up for out paying other teams for Chubb - risk reward is totally there, especially given our lackluster RB room.

I had the same thought actually. I believe he should beat out the others for RB3 easily. If we were to add Chubb, then he would have to beat out BRob, which is also a real possibility. Only if he couldn’t do that would you start thinking practice squad.

Chubb is not the Chubb that got all the stats... the new version is beaten down by injuries and most likely lost a few steps + he is 29 (not getting healthier) . Let bears take a chance at him. Tired of injured castoffs from other teams that never play up to their past performance. We already have one of those here.

We have several of those: Ertz, Ekeler, Lattimore, and Wagner. I would say we’re better for it. It just depends on the particular player and the situation.
