Random Commanders Thoughts

The only question is, what happens when an 'underperforming' player with a bloated salary gets put on Season Ending IR for an injury that may be 'severe' enough to require a 4 week IR stint, but not severe enough it should take the entirety of the season to recover from?

I actually agree with you, despite the devils advocating above, something should be done where a team that experiences a devastating injury, is able to have flexibility to recover a competitive balance. I think it something that can be elevated where it requires player, and team cooperation in order for them to qualify, but it is going to open itself up to abuse no matter what.
I think I'd probably accept that problem as long as the player was out for the season. Maybe you work in a failsafe where league medical staff provide a second opinion that confirms that the player has an injury that merits them being out for the season? I guess that could work, but as you point out there are always loopholes.

How about when the teams make up injuries to IR a player to avoid keeping them on the roster or waiving them? Braden Daniels comes to mind. Sounds like a ton of trickery potential for the league to manage.

That'd easily be solved by what I said the post above.

And yeah, Joe Gibbs used to enjoy stashing players so he could redshirt them :)

I don’t think it’s as easy as you portray.

Every team has to operate under the same system currently so there is no need to add ambiguity to the equation or to add more salary to the cap. One of the reasons that the practice squad exists is to help in injury situations. The replacement players, beyond the main 53, are already in house and part of the salary cap. Injuries are inherent and there is already a system in place to deal with them.

Commanders playoff game in Tampa on right now on NFL Network.

Could Cris Collinsworth be any more biased? If he could have Baker Mayfield’s baby, he would.

I dont care what anyone says, that TD right there to Evans is not on Lattimore. He was tasked with covering the fade, Martin was in damn near perfect position as he's going back to defend the slant and the ball was about 3 inches above Quans head.

I think a full off-season in our building could potentially make Lattimore have a big bounce back season in '25. He's essentially an off-season addition, as he was thrown into the fire in some high leverage games towards the very end of last year coming off injury. Not an easy thing to do. I believe that move was largely made last year with an eye more towards this season. I could totally see a CB at 29 to pair with him and Sainristril, and set us up nicely for the future.
