Will Joe Whitt be our defensive coordinator next year? He was outclassed badly by Kellen Moore

I know I’m late to the party on this post, but I’m not sure Kellen Moore is going to be a good HC or was that good an OC.

When you have the fastest car, it’s not hard to drive fast.

I don’t want to diminish the job he did but handing the ball off to Barkley a bunch of times and waiting for an explosive run play while the defense keeps the game close isn’t exactly like scheming up the Greatest Show on Turf.

The Eagles offensive personnel was just much better than our defensive personnel and there’s unit so much any coordinator can do about that.

In the Sunday edition of the Washington Post, they published their first power ranking for 2025. They have Washington at 6. One year ago, all the PRs had us at thirty-one and most thought they were being generous.

Robinson is a decent back. He is not special, but he is decent.

Run block win rate is a good stat to be aware of as long as you are aware of what it is measuring. Its a stat from ESPN that measures if a blocker sustains a run block for 2.5 seconds or longer. It does not account for things like leverage or push, so you can win the run block using that stat and not create a hole for the running back (though theoretically all the defenders are engaged so there is nobody to tackle the running back even if there is no hole). But it measures how long the blocker is engaging the defender and therefore is naturally going to be higher for zone running schemes than gap schemes Probably for zone running schemes it does correlate well with success. For gap schemes where the goal is to get a push it probably is not that effective. In a gap scheme on a duo play, you may double team the DT. The double team may not be successful because the DT holds his ground against the double team (allowing the LB to make the tackle) but it could be measured as a success because the DT never disengaged the blockers.

I am suspect of any statistic that highly rates the Washington run blocking. I do have eyes and outside of JD’s rushing it leaves a lot to be desired.

I got to see Arrington up close and personal many times when I was covering the team for ES, and have told people since then that he was an arrogant ass. He would sit in the locker room post-game and make reporters wait and wait and wait for him to answer questions. He was the only player who pulled that diva bullshit, and you could tell he did it purposely. Just one big arrogant ass. Good for CP for keeping it real. Guys was a complete jackass and fans should feel like they got snow-jobbed about the great Redskin he was.

Cute story-

My wife, born and raised in Russia before escaping and migrating next door to Finland during Perestroika, had absolutely no experience with nor interest in American football. Like me with her obsession with knitting, she supported my watching of Redskins games but never paid more than passing attention.

This year that all changed as she was swept up in the excitement and momentum. She sat, watched, and sweated out the 4th quarters of games beginning with Cincinnati. She came down with a serious case of Jayden Daniels fever that lasted through the remainder of the season. I believe she was as excited as I was to travel to the game in New Orleans. I still remain a bit mind-blown that after 7 years together this has become ‘a thing’ for her.

A few nights ago she brought up the subject of the helmet that has been buried high up in a dark corner of my closet since we first got together. She said that it deserved to be on display in the house. I pushed back but she insisted. So I wrangled it down from it’s safe space and it was in need of a proper cleaning, which she volunteered to do. Win-win 😉 Then we didn’t see eye to eye on a good location for display. She insisted on a prominent location but I again pushed back. And, as a good husband, I lost again. Ultimately I capitulated and told her to put it wherever she desired. Now I lovingly see it all day long and appreciate her dogged pursuit of the endeavor.

Here it is in it’s place of honor. It really is a new day!

But it is amazing the difference a year makes.

Obviously I didn't know about how he dealt with reporters but I"ve always considered Lavar Arrington and ass. He acted and still acts like he is this all time great Redskins when we all know damned well that he never came close to living up to his hype.

Easily one of my least favorite players of all time.

Yet we held them to much less than 55 in the first 2 games, the 2nd after being minus 3 on turnovers

We won’t know for a while. I doubt anybody is going to be better than Roseman. But Peter’s could ascend to the same level.

Is Washington going to be willing to spend cash like Philly to allow them to us to push the money forward in regards to the cap? If not, then its not a fair competition.

Hopefully Roseman goes back to his 2015-2020 drafting quality. He's been elite for a few years now though. Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson though is the kind of thing we need to start seeing again. Ron Rivera would have been proud of that draft pick.

I have no reason to believe that Harris & Co will not spend. The main problem currently is that Washington is 3 good drafts or so behind Philadelphia in roster construction.
