Kliff has a good thing going here. He's making bank. He's got arguably the best rookie QB of all time. His team has a bajillion dollars in cap space. He's also gotten to see how well things can go when you go to the right place at the right time, like Dan Quinn got to. And he gets to learn how to instill a culture in a team from Dan too.

If his offense continues to be a scoring machine, he'll be able to basically pick any HC job he wants. And he almost certainly wants to step into a spot that's got either a young QB or a high pick in a year with QBs in reach. He probably also wants to make sure he's with the right GM.

Wouldn't surprise me if in the future he and Newmark go somewhere together, and they get to implement a vision for a team. And I hope that if/when that happens its on a team in the AFC.

But for Jayden this is huge. Continuity is massive for a young QB. Find what works for him, train him in it, so then if/when you leave, he's basically fully trained and he can keep things going by himself. But it probably takes at least 2-3 years to get there.

I hope we don't lose too many lower assistants too.

Truth be told, if he isn't being hand cuffed in any way on the offense by DQ, which I seriously doubt. I can only speculate but I would be willing to say that for him to leave, and its not the money, the situation has to have a whole bunch of boxes checked for him to go.

Kliff's offense isn't that far off from being an absolute juggernaut. A few tweeks here and there from our exceptional cap space situation and this guy has all the toys he could want. I suspect, because of his HC experience, he has very particular criteria for acceptance. I would say that he has many of those things right now. I also would say, he probably hates the 'flash in the pan' title his AZ time was given. He has alot to prove. And he has alot to learn to hit the bar you know he set exceptionally high.

Keep in mind, the very successful in any endeavor, make the decision for others. They make it so people have no doubt that your the 'guy' and name your price. Your actions ARE your words. He is in a great position to dictate his own success after a rocky start. I think its a great move for many reasons.

I just love that we're going to rack it up and go again.

I actually think we're pretty safe. I don't think that our defense did well enough that many coaches would be offered more than a lateral move and so why leave a good situation. Likewise, Johnson probably thinks he's the heir apparent and if he's actually ambitious it will behoove him to wait a year so he can prove himself with Jayden Daniels rather than a worse situation.

Thats a pretty big loss. Grant and Danny were saying he designed a lot of the plays this season. Including the TD pass to Crowder to beat Philly.

Cincy owners are cheapskates. They'll never allow their FO to build a consistent winner. Burrow is going to end up like Dan Fouts.

Thanks for sharing. I listen to Grant and Danny off and on but this nugget is really interesting to hear and I missed it. You always wonder about stuff like this.

From what little I heard about him in the offseason, he’s one of the few guys I’d hate to lose (I prefer keeping the whole band together though).

Since Coen is gonna be the playcaller in Jacksonville, it would be a promotion in title only for Pritchard if he left. I think he'd be better off staying and helping to keep our offense rockin' and rollin'. They interviewed Nate Scheelhaase for the role too, and I'd guess he'd be the preferred candidate because of his Rams connection with Coen (though their time in LA didn't overlap).
