Heh! I was about to say, "Me too!" in a bluesky post when I saw that BGO already did. Chicago was the only game I attended live. It was a hell of a moment. How many of us were there?
 
But imagine waking up Monday morning, knowing Philly won the Superbowl.

Now imagine waking up Monday morning, knowing KC won the Superbowl.

I prefer the latter. Because I don't hate KC.

A few mins ago, I wrote this email to my buddies here in Maryland. Here is the copy and paste.

Normally I would not root for a team which has won two superbowls in a row and has won three out of the last four superbowls and has appeared in five of the last six superbowls. But fuck Philly. If I was President, on Sunday night, I would have given the 'skins a couple hours to get out of town, and then I'd have sent a squadron of bombers from Andrews with orders to fly over the City of Philadelphia and just carpet-nuke the entire region.

Fuck Philly. Fuck their fans. Fuck the liberty bell. Fuck the color green.

I have a friend who’s a Giant fan who told me he was rooting for the Eagles against the Patriots in ‘17. I calmly explained to him that you never, ever, ever root for a division rival in the Superbowl. This year he’s rooting for the Eagles again ‘because of Saquon.’

Some people are just a lost cause.

I knew some people who don't live in DC anymore but were big fans of the team - they would do that mostly because they liked the NFCE to be known as the toughest division in football, bar none. I think it matters to some people who live in other division hometowns, like if you lived in New Orleans or Detroit or something perhaps. Then you could say, you are in a pansy division that can't win a Super Bowl the way the NFCE has dominated the Super Bowl. I can understand that.

However, I think after playing an NFCCG against the division rival... I wouldn't imagine many Commanders fans rooting for the Eagles. We just haven't been in that position for a little bit.
 
I could conceive of rooting for Dallas or the Giants at least in theory in certain unlikely circumstances. But Philly has the most obnoxious, out of control fans in sports. Their HC is an absolute dick. I hope they lose and have tons of injuries. Sorry not sorry.
 
My hate for Dallas has softened a bit. They're just so pathetic now. They do seem to give us a good game though, most of the time. Great history between the two teams. Great games. Great wins-against-all-odds and vice versa. So, I just think back to Landry and his dumb hat on a blurry color TV and the hate comes back.

Philly is easy to hate. Lots of great reasons.

Giants - I don't know. For some reason, I don't hate them as much. I did hate them a lot when they had Parcells, but it was mostly Parcells I hated. But now - I don't know. I think it's their fans. The fans seem more civil than most opposing fans. Maybe that's it.

You nailed it…. I want to wake up Monday after SB knowing I lived to see a team 3-peat and it WASNT the Patriots…. And that the Eagles get to hit Cancun even more bitter than the Skins.

We need more speed on every level of Defense, better run blockers on offense, and skill players who know how to protect the ball when making contact. Still wondering how we had 3 fumbles after they knocked so many out in the previous meeting. You’d think coaching would have made an extra emphasis on that… maybe they did and it didn’t help?

I would be very surprised if we can get every level filled with a new difference-maker, but even if its just a fast DB and an Edge/DT that can command double-teams, we should see some improvement in containing the run. Seems clear that JA and Daron don’t create the havoc they used to without a great edge.

Going to be a really fun offseason TBH….. wish the draft and FA was tomorrow :)
