I truly have no idea who they will get, but the silver lining here is that they should have no shortage of up-and-coming front office talent trying to get in our door.... that's so far from where we were for so long, it's crazy!

He's very familiar with Adam peters they worked together in San Francisco for many years and he's a recently fired gm so unless he can get another gm gig right away he's a perfect candidate.

His drafts have been average to below average at best while at Tennessee, Heisenberg. That's why I questioned you. It's all good, bro. Maybe someone from SF or in house in Washington.

The following was published before the season began:

Down the length of the field, outstretched arms held jerseys, posters, trading cards, water bottles, bucket hats, burgundy-and-gold Nikes and, in one case, a freaked-out newborn baby. Once, the rookie started to walk away and someone hurled a football at his chest. He caught it instinctively, signed it and tossed it back. He started to walk away again, and out flew two more footballs.

The fans begged for selfies. They jockeyed with one another, yelling things such as, “For my son!” or “Service member!” The white plastic fences began to buckle.

The kids were the boldest:

“You’re the best quarterback the league has ever seen!”

The voices, all of them, were actually asking a question — an existential question for Commanders fans, the question that will for the foreseeable future hang over the owner’s suite, the nosebleed seats, the bar stools and the group chats.

I think obviously it’s a definitive YES on two of them. Coleman I am nowhere near as sure on. I think it’s possible they could move him to the other side or to guard and take another crack at it, but the coaches may see it completely differently.

As an LT, at this point, I think you can make the case to say he is a serviceable backup and potential starter which is great given his draft position.
Elite, that certainly you cannot say right now. I am guessing they see it the same way you do.

We also need to get LBs through the draft potentially, it would be nice to start cycling some cornerstone "defensive QBs" (S/MLB) through the draft to have some certainty for a few years there.

I don't know what the long-term planning is, but right now, it seems more advanced than what I have seen elsewhere. The biggest question will be how they balance things as the big paydays come in 4-5 years. Well, that's FOUR years out, so these next FOUR years have to be made to count. Every GM knows, when you find your QB in the draft the clock starts ticking.

What excites me about Coleman is that he missed the entire offseason and the first part of the year due to injuries. If he works hard, and I think he might, he should make a big jump in strength, lineplay (being in sync with his teammates,) etc. Now, you may be right that he's closer to his ceiling and better at guard or right tackle, but we also may just be scratching the surface at the player he could become.

From what I’ve read, this is a draft strong in DBs, Safeties, TE, and DTs… not so much in OL except a few OTs. Hoping we can continue the trend of drafting best available, and getting guys that overachieve in the draft and FA.

Once huge benefit of a great QB is that he covers up many of the mistakes of his OL… looking forward to what AP and DQ add to the team this offseason.
