Found the pic from SeatGeek…. Those seats were in 201. My 2 season tix I signed up for the next day are just across from you in 219, under the overhang but unobstructed, ~ 10-15 yard line, on the aisle. Not sure how many games I can get to, but can’t wait to figure it out.

Section 201! Last row! That's insane. I don't think I ever got lucky enough to get seats in 201. I was lucky enough to sit in 242 last row quite a few times thanks to a certain kind and generous ES member. Skinsfan1311 will attest to that! Yes, there are some stories there too! Those were the days...

Oh man - just brought up a flashback to the Daily Babe thread in the Tailgate which was unambiguously inappropriate but tolerated for quite a while if memory serves. I remember arriving and being like: “whoa can’t believe this is here and allowed…but might as well have a look while I’m here.”

I didn't understand most of the tech language in the opening post but I appreciated the history info. I didn't become an ES regular until maybe 2010 or so, not sure. But one thing I did appreciate, knowing it was owned by the team, is how they kept their word (which is suprising) and did not censor posts. Which was pretty amazing seeing as how we hammered the team owner on a daily basis.

I doubt anyone was looking at it Darrell Green Fan. Snyder apparently couldn't manage handling emails - he sure as hell wasn't spending a lot of time on internet messageboards, not even his own. I think how things ended probably underscores the team's lack of interest and engagement - I mean, when the site went dark it still sported Washington Football Team graphics.

You are right though - for whatever the reason - at least while I was involved post-acquisition, the team never issued directives of any kind.

Okay, let's see. I can think of two offhand. This is all from distant memory, so if I get some details wrong, crucify me.

First one has nothing to do with the team or ES. My wife used to work at a museum downtown, and the museum would occasionally need to hire a contractor to make an appropriate box to hang on a wall to display certain priceless items. He would make it from scratch. He would create a customized poly box to display a particular item, and the poly would have the appropriate uv filters to protect the item. He was a professional and did an excellent job, as he worked for himself and had no assistant to screw things up. It was just him. And we knew this guy pretty well.

So sure enough, one day DS calls upon him to do something at the DS estate in Potomac. Box and hang some kind of artwork, apparently. So he makes an appointment, pulls up to the gate, and he has to get out of the car and enter the gate house. Once there, they make him sign a document stating he agrees not to divulge any info about anything he might or might not see on the grounds or in the mansion. Otherwise, he may be prosecuted. It was a long legal document which he was required to sign and it was notarized by somebody there. Then he had to give up his identification (drivers license and one other ID) where they photographed it. Then they took his photo, a photo of his face, and made a "green badge" out of it. In case you don't know, a green badge is what you have to wear when you enter a government classified area such as NSA, CIA, etc. It assures everybody you are cleared for that area. So this, he hung around his neck on a lanyard. And that's how he entered the grounds and the mansion. And apparently, a green badge is required of everybody who enters the grounds of DS, unless you're family.

That's all I got, no other details.

Another time, we were hanging out on Redskins Rd, doing our usual pre-tailgate tailgate in front of the orange cones, waiting for the lots to open. And there's a lane there where certain people can enter early, such as coaches, press, employees, etc. And there's a PG County policeman parked right there adjacent to the road. The idea is, you have to pull up to the police cruiser and show him proof that you may enter early. This was a regular routine thing. We actually knew the police officer because he was there every game.

So sure enough, this one dark car just ZOOOOMS right through the lane, ignoring the police car - and zooming through at a high rate of speed. Holy shit! So the cop does back up and chases the guy down Redskins Rd, blue lights flashing, and finally stops him way up by the ring road, which is quite a way from where we were. The cop approaches the driver and says "What the fuck you doing?", and the driver says "I got the owner." It was DS in the back of the car. Apparently, DS advised his driver to blow by the cop because he was in a hurry or something. The cop told me this when he came back, and even had it recorded on his dash cam! He was fairly upset. But not much he could do.

So anyway, the last row of those 200 section seats on the home side are amazingly great seats. I would say they are the best seats in the stadium. Better than club, better than suites, better than loge, better than dream seats. Under cover, of course. Perfect sightlines, yet relatively close to the field. There is a little bit of space behind the seatback and between the wall where you can put your stuff like coat, binoculars, etc. It is like your own little private locker area. The suite windows are right above your head, so if you miss a play, you can just twist your head and look at the TV that's hanging from the ceiling of the suite which is angled inward, and see the replay. Every once in a while, you might get a celebrity seated above and behind your head. If it is bitterly cold, warm air will waft out of those open windows and keep you toasty. Often at these big games, you're full of adrenalin, and if you want to stand and cheer, you can stand as long as you wish - you are not blocking anybody because there is nobody behind you except the wall! Home side means the bathrooms aren't as crowded, shorter lines. When the crowd cheers, you were IN the crowd, immersed in the cheer - you aren't hearing the cheer from inside some dumb box. If the stadium was the Roman Coliseum, this is where Julius Caeser would be sitting. Absolutely outstanding mother ******* seats.

So sure enough, one Monday after work, I check into ES and there's a thread in the Tailgate titled MARK THE HOMER ROCKS. It was like six hours old and had something like fourteen pages. I couldn't disagree with the title. I didn't recognize the ES member who started the thread. So I began reading it. And the beginning of the thread didn't have any details, just some member gushing over Mark The Homer. I'm reading page after page, and slowly, details began to emerge. Back then, there were tons of people on ES who didn't know what I looked like, and my pic was not in my sig as it was later on. So eventually, this person, who was a woman, posted a photo of me. And I believe it was DH, who had actually met me in person once in the lot somewhere, and he called this girl out, explaining that Mark The Homer is white, and the guy in the photo is black, er, African-American. So what is going on?

Turns out, after I talked to Travis who had been going to games with me regularly, he didn't go home after the game that day. Instead he went to some club, still wearing his Redskins jersey. And then he met the girl. And it was really loud in the club. They could barely hear each other. But the girl asked Travis if he was on ES. And Travis said no, but he knows Mark The Homer who was on ES. And the girls shouted "You're Mark The Homer?" And Travis said, "No, I know Mark The Homer." And the girl said "You're Mark The Homer!" And they could barely hear each other, and Travis gave up trying to explain. So then they danced and drank and Travis went home with her, and she never did learn Travis' name. So that's why she started the thread the next day.

And from that point forward, Travis became known among the ES tailgaters, as "The Black Mark The Homer."

One game we were sitting in 205, last row. And Travis started flirting with the really pretty young blonde woman seated right at the window. So they were flirting for a while. She started handing us drinks. She gave Travis this huge oversized wine glass full of wine. It was the biggest wine glass you've ever seen. So we're living large there, drinking from the owner's suite. These are not normal suites like above the club, these are called "owners suites" which are significantly more exclusive and expensive. So after a while, guess who sits down in the seat next to this pretty girl? Shit, that's Colt Brennan! He was on IR at the time. We got him to sign our hats! Pretty cool. I still have that oversized glass somewhere.
