Tell the Truth Sunday- Divisional Round Edition

The weird truth is... I'm not shocked. Flabbergasted, but not shocked. I guess part of me knew and believed.

The truth is, we knew the kind of game we needed to play in order to have a chance. We needed to convert fourth downs, own time of possession, and make it a shootout where the Lions had to eventually abandon the run. That was my keys to victory guess. I didn't see the turnovers. We haven't generated many all year. Our secondary was opportunistic and played huge in the "winning moments."

Truth is, I'm bloody happy about this win.

I have not watched a lot of the Lions this year but I have to say I'm glad Johnson didn't come here. The offense is entertaining but Johnson gets cutesy with it. Flashy to be flashy when he doesn't have to and it's part of the reason we won.

Okay, the truth is that I have a little petty in me.

Like I said on Bluesky, Johnson snubbed us in the most unproffessional way possible. I'm glad we were the ones to end his season. I mean I would always root for us to win, but doing it to Johnson was the cherry on top.

Many of us thought Ben Johnson would be a great HC hire and were disappointed when he chose to return to Detroit.

But, Ben Johnson came through when we needed him most last night. So I appreciate his contribution.

I'm still at a loss for words. Have at it friends. Fill the void here.

It seems a number of teams that we have beaten this year abandoned what seemed to have been working for other options. Not meant to take away from the defense, D played a hell of a game tonight.

My wife told me last night that it was the most calm and relaxed she has ever seen during a game. I had a feeling. Something magical is taking place.
It's a weird calmness. I think i came to a realization a while back that we are way ahead of schedule and I'm good with whatever outcome. Just glad the players don't have the same attitude. Lol

So…it wasn’t a dream?
In honor of my Wizard of Oz post.

But it wasn't a dream. You were there and you were there and you.

It feels great! Nice morning, and can't wait to see who we play next week. Thank you players, coaches, and owners! What a feeling!

The defense played it's biggest game when needed, fuck the score, the defense stood up, grabbed their marbles when needed most. JD5 is just, special I got no other way to put it. It was also good to see Brob get his legs back a bit. Oh, fuck Johnson.

Also, Mike Pereira can do one. The hit by Luvu on Goff was perfectly legal. Goff was going for the returner, and was free game. Luvu didn’t duck his head, and hit him high in the chest, under his chin.

Don’t want the QB to get hammered? Then don’t go after the returner!

When I listened to the coaches and players from both teams this week, it just seemed that the Lions had too much else to say about everything else other than playing us. They all said the same platitudes about JD and how great a season.....but you could just tell that they really didn't think we had a shot. Our guys basically said...."Hold my beer"

We wanted it more. You could see it on multiple plays throughout the game. Our gameplans in the playoff have been masterful. And we really need to stop saying that our defense sucks. We are not in the NFC Championship game simply because of our offense and Jayden Daniels. This defense has gotten it done over and over again. Joe Whitt Jr. is an incredible DC. And the guys we have on that side of the ball may not be the most talented in the NFL but the effort and cohesion they are playing with is incredible. We held Detroit to less than their season average in the biggest game of the season in their house. And Jared Goff was having a career season coming into this one, completing 72% of his passes. He was having a dream year. And without a dominating pass rusher on our roster, we made him look jittery and confused at times and most importantly we dirtied his jersey and force him into turnovers.

That's incredible.

Why is a QB considered a QB while on defense? WTF? They could always lie on the field in the fetal position.

Hey Fellas,

Anybody got memes/funny pics from the win last night ? Boone, is it ok to post them here or does that need a separate thread?

What Mike Pereria was talking about was when the QB is blown up immediately after the interception when some defender goes headhunting. This is not what happened on that play. Goff was running downfield trying to make a play. He was not a defenseless QB in the seconds after a pass. He was a defender trying to tackle a ball carrier.
