Norvousness bit me a few times yesterday, but when we held them to a field goal I had this strange sense of calm. I thought we could kill the clock and score. On a more critical note, our running game has fallen apart. I know the Bucs are very stout against the run, but it's been too many weeks in a row. Cosmi also needs to up his game. He's supposed to be the best player on that unit.

Daniels is the man. He proved it again last night. He played brilliantly and came through in the clutch as he has done all season.

As for the defense, as much as we want to complain about them, they held Tampa to only 20 points, their 2nd lowest point total of the year (twice scored 7 and 2 other times scored 20). And the last time they scored this little, was a 20 point game against the 49ers in week 10. Tampa was unstoppable offensively down the stretch and this much maligned defense was able to do enough. Oh and Tampa punted twice and had the only turnover of the game. Again, defense making plays despite their deficiencies.

Dan Quinn, take the points early in the game. It’s always a smart move to get on the board early.

There was a point during the 2nd half when I felt like things weren’t going to end the way I wanted. I was wondering just what in the hell was I going to do until September.

I will admit that I openly questioned Wylie’s birthright, heritage, and future existence on this planet after his IMDF penalty. And I may have coined a derogatory nickname for a certain CB.

Our run defense came together big time in the 4rth quarter and we were able to get them on their heels and start making mistakes.

What a difference having Lattimore on the field is.

I felt the exact same way but then I thought about it afterwards.

We had forgone 3 field goals to go for it on 4th right?

Two failed one was successful for a touchdown.

At first glance I thought we lost 2 points in that decision but that's assuming Gonzalez makes all 3.
I can only assume analytics suggests that the odds of making all 3 of those field goals with an iffy kicker is lower than getting a touchdown on one of the 3 attempts on 4th down.

so in essence if analytics suggest we miss one of those kicks were better off going for it 3 times than kicking field goals.

It's a new age of football and it definitely takes some getting used to but the best teams in the league also seem to be the most aggressive.

Wagner's fumble recovery is one of the biggest plays in team history.
Just when we needed it, Baker flubs it and Wagner jumps on it.
We gave ourselves plenty of chances to lose by going for it on 4th down all the time, but overcame. I get that DQ wants to keep that identity, but I am of the thinking in the playoffs you take points when you can. If we'd have lost, he'd be getting skewered this morning.

The Bucs made the end of game plays that the Redskins had been making for thirty years.

A fumbled handoff. Then on the next drive, that snap that no one was ready for that led to us getting penetration and forcing the field goal.

They have to activate him for that to even be possible. Was surprised to hear he was inactive given what we've seen over the last month.

Quinn has the exact attitude we need him to have. It's year 1 of a rebuild. We shouldn't be here. No one could've legitimately expected us to be relevant, much less making playoff noise.

As Rocky once said to a menacing Clubber Lang... 'Go for it'.

Dan Quinn is going for it. Our crazy 2024 magical mystery tour may end any time now, but when it does, it won't be because we didn't go for it.

I know what the response is. The way you win games is to take easy points when they are there. It's stupid to forego those chances over and over.

Normally you'd be right. But not this season. This team feeds on and is powered by 'Go for it'. Because what is most embodied in that strategy is 'I believe in my guys and am doubling down on that belief every chance I get'. And when your coaches believe, the players believe.

We will live (and maybe die any time now) by this strategy. But until then?

I had a lot of friends basically telling me this last night. I said, hey when you decide a certain situation is "go for it" time and you don't make it... assuming you are a good enough team (that is the assumption)... then you should probably stay the course. Eventually you'll convert. If you run scared after making that decision, you didn't reap the rewards of your gambles.

I think one of the keys is consistency, and he has largely had consistency. There have only been very occasional times where he deviated, and usually it didn't work well for the team.

GREAT win last night, coaches should really be proud. MANY good things. Worst thing was probably just sticking with Lattimore 1-on-1 against one of the worst 1-on-1 matchups in the league.

I was thinking about joking about taking the under on the number of punts next week against the Lions. If I were Vegas I'd place the over/under at one punt. I'd put the over/under on fourth down attempts at eight.

Dan Campbell is also being routinely criticized about going for it too much on fourth.

I think people need to lay off Lattimore (not picking on you). He is a very good corner, but he's clearly not 100%. And even at 75% or whatever he is at the moment, he is the best corner on our roster by far. I like Sainristil, but he is still a rookie and it shows at times. Asking a corner who hasn't been here long, has barely played the last quarter of the season, and is not fully healthy to cover one of the toughest most talented WRs in football - it's asking a lot. It wasn't good last night but what would we reasonably expect to happen in that situation?

Give Lattimore the offseason to fully heal and I'll bet fans are humming a different tune.
