Strength & Conditioning Central

I’m not concerned at all about his strength and conditioning.

I’m concerned he seems to have an issue with getting a pulled hamstring and that needs to stop.

And I don’t think that’s necessarily indicative of a conditioning problem. I think it’s a “some people are more susceptible to hamstring injuries than others thing
But do you think the trainers can address it in the offseason to lessen the probability of it recurring next year? Seems like D. Brown also went out with a hammy.

Short answer: no. And also, these are high end athletes with access to the best training we as a human society know. They’re doing everything they know how to do.

But if you run 50 sprints, cutting and stopping and starting on 3 hours, sometimes things pop or pull. And you’re body is either susceptible to it or not.

The injury which is more conditioning related (though not always, sometimes it’s environmental), is cramps. If you cramp up consistently, that could be more indication the conditioning is not there.

But we’ve seen no indication of that. I remember the opener for the 1999 season which we lost in OT to Dallas, the entire defense cramped up. It was hot and Norv ran a day camp for training camp. That team was out of shape. That was also 25 years ago.

Does Quinn fear playing the Philadelphia Eagles vs the Rams? Concerned the Rams will rest starters while keeping up strength and condtioning and we will not win in the trenches.

Road losses at Philadephia and Baltimore, home losses to Kansas City and the Bengals, and another road loss to the Ravens.

Most teams would be lucky to win one or two of those.

True but the domination in the trenches by the Ravens surprised me

Why?

Also, the Ravens offense is just a massive mismatch for every defense.

Henry + Lamar = almost unstoppable running game. Which makes the play action game work.

Defenders can’t explode off the ball because they have to pause and see what happens. By the time they know what’s happening, somebody has put them on their ass.

I can’t remember how many times a Pitt defender tackled Henry behind the line only to realize the ball was 20 yards away moving down the field with Lamar.

Sometimes teams are just better. And the Ravens are just better.

The only way to beat the Ravens is going to be to put score them. And Pitt is not capable of putting up 35 points with Russ at this point.

Because they solved the Ravens earlier in the year and had a chance to make adjustments from the previous game in Baltimore

Division games. They beat a division rival at home by 2 points in December.

Theres nothing weird about it.

Also, in the last 4 weeks they’ve played:
Eagles
Ravens
Chiefs
Bengals
Rsvens

If you don’t think that’s going to take it out of a team, you’re mad. That’s 3 of the most physical teams in football (eagles, ravens and Chiefs), one of the best offenses in football in the Bengals.

Also, if there was any team in the NFL where you can’t question preparation, it’s the Steelers. They consistently bring a knife to a gun fight and win.

Ahem…is this thing on?

Washington was clearly the stronger and better conditioned team last night. I mean Jamison Williams couldn’t do better than a leisurely jog back to the line of scrimmage whilst time was running out.

After all, Washington showed the willingness to battle and were following the Warrior’s Code.

Cosmi missed the practices this week
