I think there's something important here. It probably hasn't been since the glory years since I felt like if we were struggling in the first half that we'd figure it out and be better in the second half. Gibbs was amazing at half time adjustment. So was Pettibone. More, the team believed that in what the coaches were selling so that the adjustments had an even better chance at working.

We're seeing glimpses of that with this team. If they struggle in the first half then we will be better in the second, especially on offense... and the last few games we've seen it on defense, too. We still suffer from that fourth quarter collapse. I don't know if it's just because we lack the talent to protect a lead while playing conservatively or because we lack the depth and wear down, but against Philly and against the Falcons, both superior running teams, we were a sieve in the first half and mostly shut them down in the second.

If you actually watched the game.. Robinson would mostly be tackled by the first tackler.. while Rodriguez consistently broke tackles and got extra yards. Rob also got blown up by blitzing LBs a couple of times.. not a great showing.
Oline didnt do RBs any favors.. but the expectation for Robinson based on his previous play should be higher... i'd like to see more Rodriguez going forward.

How does Rodriguez " consistently " break all these tackles in this game but still ends up averaging almost a yard and half less per carry than Robinson, when Robinsons longest run was 12 yards ?
On the carries your talking about, the defensive line is in the backfield before Robinson gets the ball.
The run blocking lately hasn't been as good as it was earlier this year, so I wouldn't have the same expectations for Robinson compared to earlier in the year. If you watched the game, you have to take things in context.

Exactly.
And Robinson still had the better average.

Our offense looked great. Methodical drives that controlled the clock. Executed on a number of key plays. I feel better that the 2nd half Kliff is a thing of the past. But too many penalties. The false starts drive me bananas. The second tomahawk by Cosmi was frustrating bc he had great position on his man, there was no need. Also, the drops were frustrating. OZ had a big one, Terry had a couple he could've snagged. But Kliff is getting guys open, and JD is making his reads and finding them.

While I get excited at what a Jeanty caliber RB could do for this offense, I do love these RBs. Not saying they are world beaters, but I love their heart. JM to fight for that final yard on 4th down, and C Rod fighting for those extra yards late in the game. Loved watching it.

Holy cow we need a starting cb. BSJ and now MD have a target on their back when they are on the field, and they can't get out of their own way. Noah I has been great for us this year, and he was on the field for every snap last night. I hope they are able to re sign him. If we sign an outside cb such as C Ward or DJ Reed, and retain Noah I in the slot, MS could be a chess piece that could wreak havoc.

We know they also need a wr. Tee Higgins is great, but with his frequent unavailability, not sure I like him at 25 mil per. Id rather go wr in first (Burden, Bond, Harris,etc) and go CB in FA in one of the names above.

Glad to see J Allen back out there. I know he hasn't lived up to his price tag, but he has been here through a lot of BS, hope he can enjoy a little bit of a run this year.

Hope Biadasz, Lucas, Lattimore etc can heal up quick. A win Sunday would be huge. Would love to avoid at Philly first weekend.

What a fun season this has been. My son is 6 and this is the first season he is able to sit and watch games and it keeps his attention. He asks good questions, he knows the players. I was 6 in 87 and watching the games with my dad that year are some of my earliest sports memories, pretty cool that my son is the same age now and has a legit QB to root for. Hope we can make a run, but it's all house money at this point.

I'm wondering of B Rob is playing injured, He just doesn't seem himself. I won't give up on him yet but I'd spread the load with other rb's.

Who’s the defensive backfield coach? Because not just BSJ but ALL our corners are just too damn handsy. They have to coach them out of that. Stop grabbing and trust your cover skills.

I think Austin Ekeler is eligible to come off IR for the Cowboys game. I doubt that will happen, but perhaps he could be ready for the first round playoff game.

He was on 106.7 with Grant Paulson this afternoon but I missed the interview. I’m sure Grant asked about his status… did anybody catch the interview?
 
Just got a chance to watch the 2nd half. HTTR, I knew it, but i checked the score this morning

Falcons look to have a good qb too. Cousins contract is weighing real heavy now

Agreed. I think we just need a serious upgrade on corners. Davis was no where close to a receiver in order to get handsy. I like Sanristill and Igbi and that’s about it.
 
OTOH, I think I prefer handsy DBs to DBs who play twelve yards off the receiver on 3rd and 2.

I was thinking about that. I see good defenses being handsy all the time. How often have we seen our receivers being manhandled by good defenses all the way down the field with no flags. Sometimes, I think the flag is thrown has a lot to do with reputation. A "good" defense is given deference and latitude whereas a bad defense gets everything called.

Our reputation is that of having a putrid defense. We've been bad at least since Haslett so that's at ten plus years of consistently bad defense.

I think its the star power of some receivers throwing their hands up to the refs that gets flags sometimes

I cant remember Terry ever begging for a flag

A lot of those flags will magically disappear in the playoffs. Refs dont want to be involved in ruining a playoff game.
 
Is there a potential playoff benefit to beating the Cowboys next week? Jayden took some big hits yesterday...mabye let Marcus play?
