Official Game Thread - Week 16 - Eagles @ Commanders

I don't agree with the implied 'however I act in chat is just fine' mentality. We are all in chat to root for the team we love and try to enjoy the game with our peers. That doesn't mean that if you don't think we are going to win, you can't express that. We all get frustrated, and when they are sucking it is expected we will all likely be talking about how they are sucking. But just like here on the board, when people get so over the top that it creates drama or detracts from the general experience for everyone else, that's not what we want. There are some folks that start the incessant doom and gloom literally as soon as the other team takes a lead. It's not only super annoying for the majority that realizes a) it's a football game, b) realizes the other team is trying to win too, and c) there are 3 quarters plus of football left to play so not only is loudly giving up in a 1 score game and calling for players to be cut and coaches to be fired annoying, it's patently dumb.

Pointing this out is not to say that everyone entering into chat needs to be a positive homer. You don't have to pretend they don't suck when they suck. You don't have to believe we have a chance to win. You can criticize every failure or perceived failure you want. But if every single post you make when a game is far far from over is doom and gloom, and you are spamming the chatroom with ridiculous negativity, at some point it's a problem. Even yesterday, when a few were doing exactly that, no one got locked down or booted.

But I reserve the right to do it.

Instead, I just got out of chat and enjoyed the game. I don't know if others do that to escape the noise, but I'm betting they do. They shouldn't have to.

So where is the line where someone's right to wallow in negativity becomes a problem? I don't know, but there is a line somewhere.

Some people like to keep their negative emotions in check during a gameday experience, some show them a little, while others over react and exaggerate things wildly.

It's been going on since the dawn of man and isn't going to change but for some reason the people who keep their emotions in check get really bothered by those who don't despite knowing it's never gonna change and that when the game is over and cooler heads start to prevail most are very reasonable people.

It's a really fascinating dynamic.

Positive emotions on the other hand there's no acceptability limit on those go crazy all you want but negative ones in the heat of the moment have limits.

I'm generally positive, but I will admit one of the reasons I enter a game chat is to vent, but it's usually a one off and not a "We're done." "We suck." etc. The other reason to enter a game chat is to celebrate, but usually when celebrating I don't want to take my attention away from the game.

I will admit the Eeyores drive me crazy. Though not as crazy as the midweek Eeyores who are suicidally depressed in the cool of the week and not the heat of the moment.

As someone who follows the Niners closely (Bay Area resident), I highly suspect Purdy is going to be his QB for close to the next decade. The massive amount of injured starters and backups is the major reason the Niners aren't winning the West this year.

Well when his cap hit balloons in coming years, how many of these starters are still going to be there? I doubt Greenlaw, Samuel, Ward and Hufanga are still 9ers after this offseason.

They will need to continue finding studs Day 2 and Day 3 and that will be a challenge after all the personnel guys they’ve lost (Peters, Carthon and Kwesi)

Yeah it's definitely annoying especially the extremists, i used to always avoid the GameDay threads for that reason and because it was always just noise you almost couldn't keep up with but when i pop in I admit it's usually to let off a touch of steam because I'm pissed and want to win.
I don't usually over chear or over vent in the GameDay thread, I save most of the joys of having to deal with my emotional roller coaster for my wife.🤣🤣🤣

I am going to say I doubt it. I haven't in my illustrious 50+ years of NFL fandom extremism.

We know what the magic words are but this one somehow must have been next level. Dyami knows what he said.

Yeah he must have said something truly awful and that ref was right there and didn't mess around and gave garnder johnson the finger wave to boot.

I admit I'm very curious as to what he said that was so bad that it warranted both an unpunished slap to the face and an ejection.

I didn't see any spit or a motion that would suggest it but the thought had crossed my mind.
I just can't think of anything verbal that would warrant the ref to do what he did in light of the smack to the head.

The Refs were puzzling in yesterday's game.

Washington's offensive linemen were tackling the Eagles defenders in pass protection and were getting away with it.

But on the other side of the ball, Lattimore and the DBs were getting called for any play where AJ Brown was even touched on a route.

At least Olsen called out the refs for a couple of those calls in the second half.

But to go back to the offensive line, anyone that thinks we have a good OL and don't need to further bolster the STARTING group in the offseason in FA and the draft is whistling past the graveyard.

The Eagles have a very good 6 man rotation on the DL and they won a lot of the battles yesterday.

Daniels running kept the sack numbers down but the pressures were there on almost every key passing play during the game it seemed.
