I’m bringing my wife’s gumbo.

Actually, my wife and I got married in New Orleans and our rehearsal dinner was at the New Orleans School of cooking. And they made gumbo. And man, was it good.

I want some of that gumbo.

Oh Man...what a kick-ass venue for a rehearsal dinner!
The New Orleans School of Cooking was one of the highlights of our last trip to the Big Easy. The gumbo that she made was some of the best that I've ever had.

It was phenomenal. We wanted to do something unique. I think the Gumbo was maybe the best food we had the entire time.

I think the other thing on the menu was jambalaya, which was also very good but the gumbo was other worldly.

The whole wedding was just designed to be fun. 5th line parade down Bourbon street, post party at our favorite bar, it was just nuts.

Weddings should always be awesome. You only get 2-3 swings at it. 😉

I had 2. In 8 days with the same woman!

We had an Episcopalian wedding and shenanigans in NOLA, and then came back to DC for an Indian ceremony and party here. The benefits of being an interracial couple: you can celebrate twice!

We did 2. The first was in the Palm Beach County Courthouse during Covid where we weren’t allowed any witnesses but had a small, intimate post-wedding celebration at a restaurant on the island. The second was in Finland for my wife’s large extended family.

Amen! Our daughter-in-law is Indian and, I was not expecting such a wild reception, after that beautiful, dignified ceremony. I called the music at the reception "Hindu Hip-Hop" and it was a blast. I learned the basic move....as one of her Aunties put it..."screw in the light bulb, pet the dog!"

I’m the Indian (well, of Indian ethnicity, I was born in Fairfax hospital and am as American as anybody) and i definitively do not dance, Indian or otherwise, lightbulb screwing or dog patting.

Interestingly, my cousin, who is MUCH younger than I am (like half my age?) is a Bollywood star. She’ll post a picturing herself sitting on a bench and it will get 125k likes. She does a lot of Hindi hip hop dancing.

Our Indian party celebration was absolutely NOT Hindi hip hop. But it was fun, with lots of colors and Indian food.

She was born in India. She was 2 or 3 years old when her family moved Stateside.

I love Bollywood movies..
