Official Game Thread - Week 13 - Titans @ Commanders

It's pretty incredible the turnaround this defense has made since the first few games. At the start of the season our D made Haslett's D's look impressive. Now, while they may not be a strength they are far from a liability. They're probably even above average.

But man, I really wanted an interception today. We had a chance for three and snagged zero.
 
I almost forgot about Galette. And now I'm thinking about that MLB Barrow who never got to play a down.
Hopefully they're just resting Lattimore until after the bye.... hopefully.

Lattimore is not Gallette just like Daniels is not Griffin



Different talent evaluators. Different circumstances. Different decades.

Does that mean Lattimore won't have a similar fate? No idea at this point, but it's unfair to hold the current regime's feet to the fire due to the ghosts of Redskins past.

The Lattimore move was not made for his contribution in the 2024 regular season. They didn't bring him in to 'solve' something in the 2nd half of the season. The guy, when healthy, is better than anything we're going to be able to draft in 2025 draft, or (dollar for dollar) anything we will be able to pick up in the offseason, and we have 2 years of 'control' with almost zero risk.
 
I bet Lattimore plays against the Saints in two weeks. We could really use him the last 4 weeks of the season. For some reason I’m thinking we split the last 4 games 2-2 and miss the playoffs.

Outside of Sanistrill our corners are awful. Our only hope is to play poor qbs combined with receivers that cannot catch. Lattimore could be a huge difference maker for us.
 
We really needed that W today. Proud of the boys for coming out and getting it done. We are right in the mix for the homestretch. If we do make it, no one will want to face JD in the playoffs.
This bye could not come at a better time. So excited for what is to come.
 
Thanks to everyone who weighed in on the Lattimore situation. The point that the decisions of the current regime cannot be viewed through the lens of the prior regime's incompetence is well-taken. Of course, it is hard, as a fan, to forget some of these things. In addition to the Galette and Barrow situations, does anyone recall when we had a first-ballot HOF LT in his prime who lost trust in the organization after a tumor on his freaking head was misdiagnosed as skin fungus or some other minor condition for 2 years?

It is clear that the current medical staff took a calculated risk on Lattimore with his lengthy injury history. As fans, we just don't know how much of a calculated risk THEY think they took; was the staff split on their opinion? did they feel that he is past his issues or was this more of a hail Mary at a position of extreme need? I guess we will all find out together in due time.

i think its naive to think Latimore wasnt brought in to help this season... CB is a major hole for Wash, and the team is playing well enough to make a playoff run. If they expected him to miss 4-5 weeks they could have just IRd him from the get go. Saying that... it was a good move if they identified him as a player that can help. I am hoping he is healthy enough to play in a week, because having him on the field is a great boost to our db room.
 
I am really excited about Lattimore even if he cannot play this year, if he returns to form next year. With him we get closer to the best player available in the draft which is the ultimate way to draft.
 
I’m expecting Latimore to play against the Saints. You know he wants to play and show out against them in 2 weeks. If he doesn’t play that game, then you know the injury is bad.

As for today’s game, this team did what they should do against weak opponents and dominate them. We saw it earlier in the year, and it’s good to see it return. Hopefully last week’s game was just a blip on the radar that all times have. But coming out and doing what they were supposed to do against the Titans is a welcome sign.

Prior to us signing Gonzales, we tried out both him and Brayden Narveson who is still a FA at this time, back on Nov. 8th. Maybe he's the PK signed after they release Gonzales. Just a guess. His stats aren't that great. Hopefully, they find someone better.

At this point, they should be raiding pro-am soccer teams, combing the CFL, and calling in guys posting FGs on Youtube...

Whatever it takes! I hear you. We need to nail down the PK position that's for sure.

Yes it is a major hole, and as I mentioned, the emphasis wasn’t the 2024 regular season. I imagine they see his value beyond November and into the playoff push for this year. I would almost wonder if they targeted a return after the bye week all along?

I don’t think the move was made to have him playing immediately. It was always a move made with the ‘long term’ being a major selling point over the short term.

You could be right though with him missing four games I think the trade cost should have been a bit lower. Truth is, he just started practicing this week, but he's been watching practices and studying the playbook for a month. Hopefully that means when he's out there he will not be lost. One of the big things we have learned is how important it is for everyone in the secondary to be on the same page.
