Well, I got asked to do this... So I figure I can do these for at least the remainder of this season. No commitment for longer than that!

First off, let's start with our passing game. I am not down on Jayden Daniels yet. I think there were moments where he looked a bit off but I think he played relatively well. The problem we have is multi-faceted on offense. First off... defenses have figured out that the goal is getting the ball out of Daniels hands and if he can't throw to get as much as he can with his legs. They are clogging rush lanes and not giving a lot of room to our receivers. So, the natural inclination is, "okay, let's run", right? Awesome. Oh, wait, BRob is down.

Alright, so the next thing is lets give the ball to McNichols - well, they didn't do that.

So what's the next way to combat coverage that isn't giving breathing room? Throwing it over the top. And we did try that... But it wasn't all that effective aside from the zone coverage that McLaurin blew by late...

Why wasn't it effective, you may ask? Well, that would be because our receivers aren't very good. I like Noah Brown as much as a lot of people here do. But reality is that he was WR7 for Houston and is now our second best receiver. That is a major issue for us. That's not to down Noah. He could be a really solid 3/big target type. But he is our two. And he led the team in targets today. He had 10 targets. So McLaurin was second... had to be!

Guess again. Ertz was second with eight.

McLaurin clocked in third.

So why didn't we keep trying to push it deep? It wasn't connecting but we could loosen them up a little. Well, that would be because our line has crashed back to reality. We are lacking talent at both tackle positions, and it certainly didn't help that Coleman and Wylie were out.

Our defense doesn't really have a lot to talk about aside from the fact that I'm not sure if we're ever going to see Lattimore. I'm hoping he's around after the bye... because I thought that trade was about this year but it turns out it may have been about next year. Daron Payne is definitely playing up to his contract, though. Which is a major positive. Oh, and I feel like it's my duty to mention Frankie Luvu every time I do a NDT.

Special Teams - Yikes. But then Yes! But then - Yikes.

Seibert went from being an outstanding addition to being a "what are we doing here?" real quick. Now, we have to be fair - the last missed extra point was an awful snap. But... Way saved it. That ball was down and in place in time for Seibert to kick it true. But we also blocked a field goal. And then missed another extra point. But we blocked a punt!

This whole game had the feel of a game where we just didn't have any juice. The offense has been figured out, Jayden's legs have been figured out and we don't have the war chest to pull out the big guns and deliver against quality defenses.

However, I still think we are very much ahead of the curve and still better than expected. At the beginning of the season I thought 5-6 wins for our season total would have been a good start to the Jayden Daniels era as long as he played well. We have seven wins with five games to go. We are going to surpass those expectations. But we have a long way to go to be a true contender. And Jayden Daniels was healthy today, so we can't point to that being the issue.

The truth is we are lacking talent.

Running back has good players - but their availability is a major question. Brian Robinson has been routinely banged up (some not his fault) in his career. Austin Ekeler seems to get hurt every other game, and after that hit today I'm not sure he's even back after the bye. We need to start utilizing McNichols more. And running back has to be a major target in this year's draft. The class is loaded with running back talent.

Wide Receiver - Well, we have McLaurin. Noah and McCaffrey are good pieces to have in your corps, but they aren't enough. I think we need to spend big FA money on this position if we can. A Tee Higgins would do a lot for this group.

Tight End - Ertz has been okay. I'd like to see Sinnott getting more burn. Bates is a blocker. We may need to look to upgrade here, but I'm not sure that's going to be an easy task.

Tackle - Yes. Both. Urgently.

Safety - We're okay back here but okay isn't great. Can improve. Though Chinn has been solid.

Linebacker - For the first time since London Fletcher I actually like our starters... and I think Frankie Luvu is in the running for team MVP.

Corner - Lattimore, Lattimore, whereforartthou Lattimore? We are using Mike Sainristil exclusively on the outside, despite him being a slot corner. I think that sums it up.

Defensive Line - We have solid talent here, and good rotational pieces for sure. But we could use a big time edge rush presence.

Kicker - The curse lives.

Punter - We have The Way.

Look, no one likes losing three in a row. And it's been ugly as hell. But I'm not down on this team yet. Even while we were winning my expectations have remained fairly low. I thought we'd make the playoffs when we were 7-2 and that dream isn't dead yet, so that's still where I am thought wise. But we need to start finding life again... real soon.

Season Totals:

No idea. They were lost in an explosion.

Baltimore revealed the blueprint on how to stop #5 and Kliff's offense and everyone followed suit.

It's not a coincidence. Can they adjust? So far it ain't looking good.

I’m not sure with the talent available right now there is a way to adjust out of this.

From one perspective, it's pretty amazing that we were able to rely on smoke and mirrors for half a season, but injuries and lack of talent are probably the big limiting factors. The other question is whether or not Kingsbury can come up with an adjustment to the league's adjustment to him.

Good summary KDawg. I agree on pretty much everything you said.

For the offense, the one thing that stood out was very few wide receivers are running wide open like they were earlier in the year. Greg Olsen saying on the broadcast how Terry stays on one side and on the line of scrimmage. So they can't motion him to get him free. And they do this to execute the no huddle offense. If Greg Olsen can see that, you know that defensive coordinators can see that. The first 50 minutes of the game, it seemed like Dallas was in the huddle when the offense was calling the plays. They were all over the play and on the ball quickly. That really needs to change and Kingsbury needs to add in some variety to the offense to keep the coordinators guessing. I've noticed that receivers aren't getting open. And if they are open, the coverage is right on top of them making the catches more difficult. Two plays that illustrated that from both sides. Brown runs a curl on 3rd down, the ball goes through his hands and hits him in the facemask. But the defender is all over him making that a tougher catch. Yes, he should have caught it, but he's not open and is pressured on the catch. Dallas on their next possession runs the exact same play. Lamb is open by 3 yds, makes the catch and is able to get the first down running through the defenders. I know Lamb is one of the top receivers, but getting that few extra yards of separation made all the difference on those two plays.

Im pretty sure he knows the adjustments needed. But we don’t have the horses to institute them.

**** for this coming over from ES. Best thing today.

Biggest takeaway after thinking about it. Is you’re right lack of talent is glaring right now. Need a good offseason in FA and draft. Hopefully JD5 goes back to how he looked earlier in the year and we know we have our future QB. I think we do but still nervous I thought RGIII was it. It’s been a fun season so far but the last 3 weeks have not.

Daniels is regressing every week. Minus the 87 yard miracle his stats are pedestrian. Probably the rookie wall. But Bo Nix is getting better every week. Kingsbury was not impressive today. But we dont know how much of his limited playbook is due to having a rookie QB. The team is who we thought they were before the season started. Holes at WR, CB, OL and Edge. It is probably a miracle we are 7-5 if we are being honest. Also think the team needs the bye badly. People are beat up at this point.

Wonder what he's watching in that VR headset these days? Land of the Lost?

No doubt we are talent deficient. Early on they were able to cover that up in a way, that if I’m being honest, had me and a lot of other people fooled a bit. I’m dealing with the reality that this team is NOT what I was starting to believe they were.

Doesn’t mean anything beyond that. The next 5 games I think will truly reveal who is going to be a part of the long-term winner that is being built here.

Good write up as always. Look, it should be 4 losses in a row so we've been fortunate at times this year and now reality has smacked us in the face. I always lean on the side of skepticism when it comes to this team and how our season will go but they had me believing after the Bears game and now the bottom has fallen out. Time to reset expectations again and not focus on overreacting. It would have been a cool story but you can't fake talent. I hope our young talent stays focused and doesn't pay too much attention to the media, it's gonna get tough for them with major heat coming from the fans and the media asking the tough, unanswerable questions.

This is my question to those questioning coaching adjustments—do we have the talent to execute the necessary changes? Also out OL play has fallen off a cliff they last few weeks

I was at an author event for the game so the thing I wanted more insight on was the defense. It looks like the third game in a row where the D was pretty good for three quarters and then completely fell apart in the fourth. How was our D? Did it just wear down? Is it lack of depth? Why do we keep failing against Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, and now Dallas in the fourth quarter?

Something else that continues to blow my mind is how we make “also ran” quarterbacks look like world beaters no matter who’s in charge. This always seems to be the case.

They did fall apart in the 4th. But they weren’t good the first 3. Dallas just kept doing stupid shit that kept them from scoring.

Here are my thoughts - both kickers on the roster were active. After the missed kick that was awful and the missed XP Gonzalez should have been kicking that XP.
Coaching - the cowboys had 3 players that could beat us one was the kick returner - why the hell did we kick to him every time?
OC he has been exposed. His run game set up is awful, his adjusting in game sucks and he is not good
We were out coached and out played by one of the worst teams in the last 15 years in the NFL - with half their oline out, starting qb on IR and multiple Defensive players out after playing on Monday night and getting killed and we had 10 days off.
I don't see us winning another game this season unless Kliff changes what he is doing with his running offense we are not making the playoffs and are not a good team
