2024/2025 Playoff Standings

The Skins are pretty safely in the wild card right now. They'd have to take a drastic nosedive to fall behind any of the NFC West contenders. The Seahawks really did them a favor on Sunday...I would be much more worried sitting only half-a-game ahead of SF right now.

The good news for the Commanders is we control our destiny. Unlike in previous years, we're not going to have to go on some ridiculous 5 game run and watch other teams to see if they are going lose so we can sneak in.

All we have to do is beat the teams we should, in theory, beat, assuming the team plays the way it did before injuries started piling up.

The rest of it is going to take care of itself.

For the division: Philly isn't going to run the table. If they do, they do, but I don't think they will. They still have games against the Ravens and the Steelers left. They also travel to LA to play the Rams. If they lose either of the AFC North games, they still play us, and if we split with them, we're exactly the same in the loss column.

For the wild card, I doubt we catch Minnesota record wise. But they will also lose a couple down the stretch.

The biggest question mark right now is going to be the NFC West. Arizona is leading the division at 6-4. The rest of the teams are 5-5. And they all play each other:
- Arizona still has 4 division games left
- SF has 2 division games left, but also plays both Detroit and Buffalo
- The Rams have 3 division games left, but also play Buffalo and Philly
- Seattle has 3 division games left, but also plays Minny and GB

It's really impossible to figure out with this number of games remaining who's going to beat who, but the fact is, all of the teams at the top of the wild card are playing each other, so some of them are going to take losses.

I kindof think Arizona is going to end up with the west, and none of the others will make the playoffs. A healthy SF team in the playoffs would be scary, but they have probably the toughest schedule.

We just need to win the games we should win. Everything else will work itself out.

Who to root for this week:

Chicago over Minnesota. Bring the Vikes down a bit. Bears winning isn't relevant since they're below .500 at the moment plus we have the tiebreaker on them.

New England over Miami. Just for the better draft pick.

Green Bay over San Francisco. This is where its a little questionable. Honestly I'd rather thin the herd of potential Wild Card teams instead of muddling them all up together. Lets concede that the Packers are probably going to get one of the Wild Card spots and just have them help knock the 9ers down some more.

Arizona over Seattle. Same logic as above. Arizona can win the division anyway which doesn't affect our playoff chances, plus we have the tiebreaker on them anyway in case they drop to Wild Card(or if we win the division and tie them for seeding purposes).

LA Rams over Philly. Muddies the Wild Card picture a bit but increases our division title chances.

They've been throwing a ton of dirt on the 49ers. I could definitely see them beating the Packers this week. Their schedule isn't too easy after that, either.

Vikings have the Bears twice, but other than that it's all winning teams

Eagles with the Rams, Steelers, Ravens and us left.

We only have the Saints, Falcons and the Eagles as games that aren't gimmies.

The #2 seed is very much alive.

The Eagles will have to lose a game and then we need to beat them.

Both of which can happen.

It’s set up for us if we play well.

Maybe we should bring back EB to be an offensive consultant to get this offense back on track? :p

Can there ever be enough passing? (Chuckle)

Seriously, I think Kliff has done an amazing job calling the offense. Especially early in the season. Lots of running, quick game, and then deep shots off of it. Very unpredictable.

The key was how efficient the run game was, consistently resulting in 2nd and short.

My biggest bugaboo recently has been consistently running on second and short and getting stuffed. It has now turned into a tendency.

But I think that will work itself out.

I think it got a little predictable at a time when injuries were playing a big role.

I'm interested to see how our play calling starts to evolve. Might need to start hitting some big throws on 1rst down.

I thought you only wanted to run the wishbone and ban the forward pass? :p

I don’t know what’s more shocking, you calling for a pass on first down or me calling for more running plays?

We live in crazy times, I tell you, crazy times!!!!

imo,san fran is struggling and will miss the playoffs in 2024.purdy and bosa won,t play in green bay,so i expect a a loss there.

They won't make the playoffs, but they're definitely a team that gets dangerous when you count them out. There's hope that they get the win tomorrow.

if Arizona wins this weekend against Seattle, the really puts them in the driver seat for the division. They have 4 of 7 remaining games in the division.

I put this somewhere, but they all have two or three games against each other. Because of this, they’re all going to take losses.

Regardless of who wins the division, just due to math, I can’t see more than one team coming out of the West.

Unless we fall off a cliff (or Kliff?) the wild card teams will almost certainly be Minny, GB and us/Eagles whoever doesn’t win the division.
