I'll give my second $0.02 on the matter and be done with it.
I was a long time lurker in the other forum for many years. In 2007, I decided to join. Being heavily involved in a certain NASCAR forum for many years took a lot of my extra time, but when that activity subsided, I felt it was time for me to become an active member.
Like you, I watched it change and have explosive growth. I'm not fully sold on the idea that some mods are tolerant of one philosophy over another. I will admit that some members can "get away" with behavior that causes some to be banned for whatever length of time. I'm as conservative as anyone (here or there), but have never been banned or even threatened with the dreaded "hammer". It's about keeping your cool and conforming to the rules - even if the rules have a certain bent for some individuals. You live by them or you die by them.
I have made a conscience decision to abstain from all discussions in the general forum and post only on the football side. The reason for doing so has nothing to do with any mod or any particular member. It has everything to do with the standards that I have set for myself. In some ways, I was beginning to compromise those standards and decided it was time to make this change. That is why we have the NASCAR game over here now. Too, it is why I am rather active at BGO and feel honored (and humbled) to have membership at such a place.
As for the political stuff, let's keep the enthusiasm and be active in our discussions. I say that we should leave out the name calling, pointing fingers at certain people, bragging too much, etc.
I also want to say that we probably don't need a big discussion about how "evil" or "wrong" one place can be and how the other is a "haven". Let's just enjoy what we have and be happy with it.
