Random Thoughts

I know this comment won't make me popular around here, but is anyone else watching Drake maye lately and thinking the jury may still be out on who will be a better long term pro?

He's starting to set some rookie records himself and look pretty damn good while jayden has regressed from his early season accolades.

I'm not saying I'm out on jayden or anything stupid like that, I still love what I've seen and really love his skills, his work ethic and his personality but simply noting that the pre draft jayden crew who were boisterous as hell and trashing the guys who were pro Maye pre draft might be slinking back into the bushes a little homer simpson style.
i just hope he keeps himself healthy and is our qb for years.

I don’t know about other places but Maye was the prohibitive favorite among posters here until about 1-2 weeks before the draft. In the spirit of full transparency…I wasn’t one of them.
never for me.i thought he looked like doghsit too much in his last year at unc to take. glad we did,nt.

What rookie records is Maye setting? I’m not really paying attention.

Extremeskins was very pro maye myself included.
There was certainly a jayden contingency but the poll was very pro maye.
And obviously they can both be great, I hope it happens although the patriots fans don't deserve another great quarterback yet.

They just showed a stat saying 7 touchdowns in his first 5 games is a rookie record.

Maybe it said new England record but I don't think so.

I'll tell ya what, he's looked really good today.

He's had 3 incompletions, all dropped passes and a couple nice throws canceled by penalties.

I liked Maye. Pretty much waffled between them all the way up to the pick. I think JD may be the next great thing. Can't judge him based on 2 weeks against dominating D's and a nagging injury.

Time will tell, but I have zero doubt right now we took the right guy, and in the long haul it won't be close.

We should start an around the nfl gameday thread to talk about the current games going on non commanders related.

I was, but I wouldn't change a thing now, regardless of latest events.

They are both rookies, being this good this early is a good sign for both their careers.

I caught as much as I could of Maye on Red Zone. He was excellent but for the 2nd time he lost the game with a late pick after his heroics earlier. This is not the reason, he's a rookie, but I have zero buyer's remorse about the selection of Mr. Daniels.

I'm pretty sure I know why the evil genius is messed up in the head...

Fwiw the early 1980s were wild. 😆

I started the process firmly in the Maye camp. Lamar had just flamed out in the playoffs, again, and I have always preferred a pure pocket passer who can scramble for a first down on 3rd and 6. Then I started watching their games. Maye just never stood out as special. He will probably turn into a fine NFL QB at the Cousins level. Then I started watching Jayden Daniels. The very first pass I saw came out so quickly, his quick release and most everything about him just jumped off the tape as something special. It didn't take me long to switch and I was convinced by draft day that he was the best pick in the draft.

Back to random thoughts: I wish someone had told me as I did my retirement planning that your health takes a big turn when you turn 65. I go to a party and EVERYONE is talking about their health issues, this was simply not the case a few years ago. In one of life's ironies the best time of your life, when you don't have to work anymore and can do whatever you want, is the time your body starts to ache all over the fucking place.
