BGO Blind Pig: Washington Commanders Post-Steelers Loss React

This is cool. Well done, gentlemen.

This loss isn't a big deal. We're way ahead of schedule. The loss did hurt, for sure in a disappointing kind of way but it's just not a major thing in the grand scheme. Expectations are a real bear but we started with none and now we have them. Which means losses hurt. Which is unfamiliar territory.

We had a shot at beating a team that seems to be clicking at the right time, along with a team that under Tomlin has never finished below .500. We didn't get embarrassed, we didn't look like we we're out of our league, F moral victories but we're looking good. I only hope we have enough recovery time for the bullshit in Philly, and by bullshit I mean their fans and team, F them and their stupid fight song and their "butt plug" push, I mean "tush push".

PREACH! Also F their head coach -- Siriani has THE most punchable face in the NFL, lol.

I think this game similar to the Ravens game showed that we have jumped a couple of levels. Last season, we were a trash heap team. This season, we are clearly not a trash, bad, or poor team. I think we are somewhere between average and good, but closer to good. We can contend with the big boys and give them a fight. We aren't quite big boys ourselves yet.

Great Podcast gentlemen.

Few comments from the listen -

Bob, Agreed with your take on how DQ seemed after the game - and really the team in general. They let one get away and they are pissed. They are and will be hungry for Thursday night. I like knowing that... I get the sense that it will have an impact on practice this week and the mindset as they go into Philly.

Paul, Great point about being behind the chains on first down. It was something I noticed during the game and it made a huge impact on this offense. I don't know the stats but I have to assume in our wins we were often looking at 2nd and short. Losing yards and/or getting no yards leads to more 3 & outs obviously but it seemed to be the first time a defense did that to this team to that level.

Boone, interesting question about whether or not teams are starting to catch up to or figure out JD. Something to ponder as we play Philly. Obviously he and the offense need to be able to make teams pay when they blitz... if they don't we will keep seeing more and more of it.

Again, great podcast - thanks for your efforts putting it together.

I think one other possibility that we didn’t talk much about - Jayden may be playing through a lot of pain. That could certainly be an issue as it’s pretty tough to heal ribs while still playing

Definitely a factor, how much only he and the trainers know. Another thing to consider is the Steelers were coming off their bye and wasn't Chicago as well? Extra week to prep and also to rest before playing us.

i think we will split with philly, but i doubt we get a w this week.jmo

The fire made me want to see Mark talk about his wine he wasn't drinking and a book he wasn't reading, but his take is in my incessant bitching opinion pretty spot on.

Om,

Great work as always. We are greatly missing you on the podcast. I too was beyond gutted this weekend, much like you described. That said, you and the rest of the Blind Pig gang are the best free form of therapy a crazed and suffering Redskins fan can ask for. Thank you.

Wait... that's theeee "Om?" He was the super mod when I first found ES. I never assumed that he was an actual human being. Always imagined him as some sort of cyborg in a Jurgenson jersey.

The first jersey I ever owned was a number 18, Sam Wyche, believe it or not. Which shows you how old I actually am.

The second jersey I ever had, and wore until it was old and gray and faded, was number 9. Still miss that old rag.
