Every website has it's own vibe, navigation, quirks, nuances, and culture. While we share a lot of similarities with forums you may have been a part of previously, BGO was built a little differently with certain goals in mind. It can be challenging to figure it all out. While you are free to stumble about and learn from experience, I thought I would point you new members in a couple directions to hopefully make your transition a little easier and more enjoyable.
The very first thing I would recommend is that you read our 'About Us' section via the tab at the top of any page. Yeah - we kind of have a mission statement - sorry. But we feel like knowing WHY we built this place when there were so many other forums out there is important. Please take 2 minutes and read it. You'll also notice that we have a large group of owners made up of valued contributing members with shared decision-making. That opportunity is available to any member once they are established.
I would also recommend that you take a look at our BGO User Guide stickied to the top of our Sons of Washington forum. It covers a ton of ground in terms of available features here, and also some basic navigation tips you might otherwise find confusing. In addition to the user guide, don't hesitate to ask a staff member or long-time poster for help - that's what we are here for. We occasionally have tech issues/glitches because, you know, it's the internet - and we have a dedicated Feedback and Tech Support forum to identify issues folks may be having.
We do a BGO Game Day Chat for every regular season game. It is a lot of fun and we encourage you to join us for those.
We have a very active presence on other social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and You Tube. You can go to any of those sites via the 'Join BGO Social Media' widget on our Home and Forum pages. We would love to have you join our groups, subscribe, etc... as it helps us let the web-o-sphere know we are out here!
We sponsor a bunch of contests annually with great prizes for top finishers to include BGO NFL Pickem, BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League, and the Crystal Ball Pool Contest. While it's too late to join those this season, you can play the 'Keys to the Game' Contest each week.
Finally, basic BGO membership gives you pretty solid functionality and access, but we do offer Premium Membership which is ad-free with a lot more bells and whistles. Check our our Donation page via the top page tab if you are interested.
